Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

There was a big dip for DBN and JHB Transit at around 22:30 last night. It does look a lot better now. Openserve transit and issues in CPT seem to have resolved now.
Would you say the packet loss is to be expected for the time being?

Seeing the latency is pretty high for George <> CPT (normally around ~19ms or so)

Hi @Afrigirl. Hope that you are doing well. can you please check the status of the frogfoot outage in Springfield if service has been fully restored. Also, could you please advise if that increased latency and packet loss on the international line impacts everyone or just specific people?

The issue on international services was affecting all regions. Are you still seeing increased latency?

I restarted my ONT and router. Still not getting full speeds. Please help. My downloads for work is also extremely slow. IMG_7091.jpeg

How is the connection now?
No packet loss, but getting high ping variance from hop 2 onwards... Usually 3ms like it should be then after a few seconds spikes to 200ms then back down. Not sure what that's about.

EDIT: BTW this weird path is due to using Mullvad DNS. Even with it off, and using Afrihost's DNS, pings are still high on hop 2 onwards.

@ Afrigirl
Hi Afrihost team,

I run several services on my home network behind your fibre line, and I've noticed that my IPv6 prefix changes on every DHCPv6 renewal — and that return routing to the previous prefix stops working within minutes of the new one being issued, rather than honoring the valid-lifetime in the Router Advertisements. (Why?)

Three questions:

  1. Do you offer a static (persistent) IPv6 prefix delegation option, either on my current plan or via an upgrade?
  2. Is the immediate termination of routing on previous prefixes intentional, or is there a longer grace period available?
  3. If static IPv6 isn't offered on current plans, is a public IP available so it remains persistent?

Background: I'm running a Cudy WR11000 router with standard DHCPv6-PD requesting a /48 or /56. Running on Vuma Aerial backbone

Thanks!

Morning. Internet down in Wilro Park, Roodepoort. Vuma. Nothing on status. Anyone else?
