There're some test matches Rassie treats as an endowment policy. This was one of them. He's sowing 2031 seeds.
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
He did not want to embarrass them more than whatvwas necessary. Why did Rassie not pick this bok team against England…..
Wouldn't help your moffies.Scotland are much just like the English.. cannot beat the Bokke.
Time to start juicing boys!
It's a Springbok team. Good enough to win the next 2 world cups.So would you not say it’s a sprinkling of A team players and the rest missing are replaced by B team players?
So the cup can overflow with english tears. Why did Rassie not pick this bok team against England…..

Watch and learn.
Also, you can’t play the same 23 in every game for 4 years…Rassie's has said, he wants SA to be the no. 1 side in works rugby and the SA A side, no. 2... He's getting closer and closer.
Here's a little thought experiment / status check to see where we are currently. Don't flame me
1st XV (23)
2nd XV (23)
- Nche, Marx, du Toit, Etzebeth, de Jager, Siya, PSDT, Wiese, Reinach, SFM, KLA, DDA, Jessie, Cheslin, Willemse
- van Staaden, Steenekamp, Louw, RG, Hanekom, Esterhuizen, WIlliams, Pollard
3rd XV (23)
- Mchunu, AHV, Malherbe, Nortje, Mostert, de Villiers, Dixon, Kwagga, Papier, Libbok, Hooker, Am, Moodie, vd Merwe, Fassi
- Bongi, Koch, Fouche, Kleyn, Roos, Faf, Horn, Mapimpi
Cover in the backs is more shallow than among the forwads, but I reckon even that 2nd XV would give most international teams a good run.
- Venter, Grobbelaar, Porthen, Moerat, Wiese, Louw, Tshituka (V), Augustus, vd Berg, Hendrikse, ??, van Wyk, ??, ??, Willie
- vd Merwe, Wessels, Nyakane, Norten, du Preez, Jantjies, ??, ??
*I only choose players that have been in the Springbok setup over the past 2 years.
IMHO... without prejudice... assuming everyone is fit, that's played over the last 2 seasons... in order of preference/most likely selection... IE Boan is most likely picked on the bench for the B team ( A team starter Ox, A team bench Steenekamp)I don’t know if calling it a B/C team is copium or insulting. Surely it was an A/B?
This is an interesting exercise and one worth conducting...Here's a little thought experiment / status check to see where we are currently. Don't flame me

Their last two scores kinda were sloppy from us, Zac and Nortjie just got lazy.I think we need to temper our expectations and I say this a lot...
Scotland were ranked 5th coming into this match. The Bok 23 was basically a concoction of the best of the rest with a handful of stalwarts for stability.
Scotland, on the other hand, came pretty much fully loaded (missing Kinghorn and Jones), a very experienced, well coached, cohesive 23 and it showed. They played with far more rhythm, continuity and accuracy than we did.
Their ability to control play through multiple phases (5+ phases) on numerous occasions is typical of how Glasgow/Scotland play.
They're actually an incredibly skillful side but perhaps without X factor, WOW players, I always felt Duhan was their X-factor player. Collectively they're a polished outfit. Beaten France and England in the last 6 nations and beat Argentina in Argentina, prior to taking the long trip to SA.
I also feel they had the sympathy of the ref re the 50/50s....
In closing, taking all factors into account, to outscore them 6 tries to 4 and win by a 2 score margin is really impressive.
What was incredibly jarring to watch is how easily they scored some of those 2nd half tries (Scotland). If I'm going to have a complaint, it's that...
Early season? They've just come off a URC / Champions cup campaign. Our forwards looked tired if im honest. Early season still.
We are going to klap the kiwis
