The official running thread™

It just didnt seem

I was just asked what size and handed a pair of Deviate Nitro 4. The DN4 felt too narrow at the toes.
Ah i heard they are quite a bit narrow from reviews. I went to the Puma outlet store close by and they only had really terrible stuff...

First run back after knee issue. Felt good with no knee pain (so far), but HR and zones look terrible. Fitness took quite a hit. Might have been ambitious to return on a 3x8:00 tempo session, but thought it would be fine since I had 3 min recovery inbetween to fall back on.

Loads of work to do to get back to where I was before...

What shoes are you all running in? Multiple shoes (1 for easy runs and 1 for race day) or just a single pair?

I'm in need of new shoes for my easy runs and long runs. Thinking of Asics Novablast 6 (the 5 don't don't long apparently) or the Nike Vomero Plus. Want something soft and bouncy.

Long runs - NB Rebel 5, Short runs - Adidas Boston , Sprint sessions - Puma Deviate Elite, alternative Nike Vomero 15

Have a 'few' pairs.

However I tend to just grab the Aero Glide 3s for almost everything now. But I haven't been running for almost more than a month. Slowly starting again.

Still can't run. Physio says I'm almost there - maybe another 2-3 weeks.

Are they good? I love Salomon shoes. I have trial running ones and Specturs for road runs, but the Specturs are a bit hard (they have a plate in them). Looking for something softer

I bought them from a company i work for after Crusader recommended them and i love them. They give me Novablast 5 feel but a bit firmer, more bouncy and a little more stability.

For my birthday i got a pair of Novablast 5s which i found on Takealot for R1500 from my mom and broke them in Sat/Sun and then ran this morning in my Salomon Aeroglide 3s and i actually prefer the feel and run in them.

Nike Vomero Plus is a 10mm stack difference so not sure if you have experience with that. I personally hate that difference it doesn't work with my feet.

My mom surprised me with a pair when she got 40% off at Bash and i tried it on and really disliked it so asked her to return it rather.

EDIT*

Size 11.

I should go try on different stacks and see what I like tbh. I just want a good daily that can do some long runs as well and be comfortable.

Ah okay you fall into the bigger sizes so often specials can be found online. I am a 12 and get 12.5 sometimes too and have a decent selection of shoes that i got at least 50% off.

I'd recommend maybe going to like a Totalsports or Sportsman and just try on some shoes with the intention of going to look for the lowest prices.

If you in Cape Town i know on a Wednesday at Canal Walk the Asics store does a 5km Asics run where you can try different shoes.

I love them. Did every kind of run in them including a 16km long run. Definitely prefer the feel over the Novablast 5 which feels too soft for me.

I did opt for the GRVL version though. I liked it so much that I got 3 more backup pairs.

For paces faster than 4:00/km it might be a bit bulky for most. Although it felt fine for me when I did sprints in them too.
