Hi All-
I have owned Frugal Usenet / Blocknews for almost 20 years now. Some of you may be customers now or maybe in the past (or maybe we have interacted elsewhere in various Usenet related forums and such over the years) but the last 1.5 years we have been putting Usenet servers in far away...
Hi,
I'm in Cape Town on 10mbps Afrihost premium capped and use sabnzbd to run overnight during 00:00-08:00 unmetered data.
I have noticed Afrihost's "own" server delivers very poor speeds and seems very unresponsive. I have gone to the additional step to buy a 00:00-12:00 (Holland-time)...

Hey all,
Was just wondering what application you guys use for NZB's in linux.
I discovered a great little app called LottaNZB. It doesn't have a lot of options, but it's really lightweight, easy to use and quick. Ubuntu users can install it straight from the software center.
It would be...
Since Saturday evening I've not been able to connect to the WA news server, all I get it is "unable to connect to news.wa.co.za:119" errors.
However, I can successfully connect to another intl news server so my own connection is fine. I've disabled firewalls and anti-virus to test, still get...

Hey all.
I wanted to know if there are any local news servers or any news server I don't necessarily have to pay for to get access to a news server on Cybersmart? Cybersmart is coming out with an uncapped offering and I'd really like to know if you can actually access a local news server from a...
Hey
I am with SAOL, and I have tried just about everything to download nzb's but to no avail (on local and intl cap). SAOL uses SAIX bandwidth.
Does anyone have the same problem or has anyone heard of people having the same problem?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Just thought I'd share the news (ha-ha).
*Stares @ thread title...* Damn brain still waking up :(
1. get a PC
2. get an internet connection
3. get a news server (these are popular http://www.usenext.com/, http://www.giganews.com/)
4. get a news client
5. (better alternative to 7. IMHO) get some .nzbs
6. get a connection to your server (hardest of all, for people like me )...
Due to the growing number of usenet related threads relating to the same types of queries, and the hostility that it attracts on an open forum, the following guideline has been outlined should one have any usenet related questions.
This is an attempt to find some sort of common ground...
