1-Grid offline?

Wait, they seriously leaked customer data to other people via the client portal, and no one lost their minds?

Did I miss something? That seems like a mega huge deal.

This is 1-grid. Nothing will surprise us when it comes to them.

1grid are the worst hosting company I ever dealt with (And not by choice). Took me months to get them to accept a domain transfer request, me having to pay a fee each time, clowns. It must've take dozens of requests.

I hope you guys come right, and when you do I suggest you immediately take your business elsewhere (get ready to have to fight with them for this). I'd be pulling my hair out with this downtime. Each day would be 20k+ in revenue gone.

Hi Guys

I have been lurking here for years (unregistered) but it seems that I actually have a real question for a change...

Anyone know of any problems at 1-Grid at the moment?

My server went down about an hour ago, tried to phone all their numbers, but all the numbers are invalid (according to the message)

Also cant view their website.

Perhaps I'm just panicking but are they still in business?
Hosting/Cloud has merit in South Africa?

I started moving everything away this morning, the process is taking time but I already have some clients up and running again on the new platform.

which platform are you using now if you don't mind sharing?

Dear customer,

We would once again like to sincerely apologise for your recent experiences with 1-grid.

As a team, this has been particularly frustrating as we have made a significant effort over the past few years focusing on improving your service levels experienced. To recap, we would like to highlight that the outage was the result of unprecedented, multiple failures across redundant circuits from our partners.

We are pleased to announce that all services have fully resumed. Should you still be experiencing any service interruptions, please log a ticket ([email protected]) or get in touch with one of our agents (021 200 1200).

We would also like to apologise for the limited availability of our support staff. During the incident, our support center was inundated with contacts. For regular updates, we encourage that you make use of our status page (https://1-grid.com/client/serv...).

Lastly, we would like to reassure you that despite the nature of this unforeseeable incident, our new data center comes with improved performance and we are investigating ways in which additional resilience can be achieved through other vendors. Further announcements regarding these enhancements will be made in due course.
Should you have any queries please contact our friendly support team on [email protected].

Have a good day and we’ll be in touch.
The 1-grid Team

One of my business partners had their services totally disrupted by these clowns, he has a failover in XNeelo, but had zero access to change DNS' as that is also hosted by 1-grid, second time in a short span of time he had a complete outtage.

wonder what the exact problem was and who was to blame. From the vague information ,were Grid-1 blaming Liquid Telecoms ? If it was the upstream provider why werent other tier 2 / 3 isps effected

They should look at hosting their DNS with Cloudflare. It is free and is very robust. They have edge servers in most major cities around the world. Also good not to have DNS tied to hosting provider in case they go offline.

They explained it, go read up in this thread for the post with the full information.. has nothing to do with upstream connections.. relates to links provided by the provider between data centers 1-grid uses etc.. again, read the full details in one of the post up in this thread..

+16 hours offline, they have fixed the issues with some of them although mine affected is still offline. Interested in what sort of issue did cause this outage, and one for this length of time?
