I thought that the Constitution disallowed discrimination based on skin colour?

Ask them via an open and very public forum and insist on a public answer.
Investors like me would be very interested.....

I've been informed that from 8 December 2015 Old Mutual will not employ a white person (male or female) without approval from the Old Mutual CEO.
This applies to both permanent and contract employees.

If anyone knows what the policy is at the other large financial services companies like Sanlam, Allan Gray, Coronation, Prudential etc, can you please post here?

Perhaps an intrepid MyBB journalist can do some investigation and write an article?

I'm looking for a new contract, and I'd prefer not to apply for anything if it'll be a waste of time.

Do you have anything to back this up with?

I'm not interested in arguing about BEE, I'm just interested in getting a new job.

This isn't BEE. This is actually against the constitution if it's proved to be a legitimate claim.

I've recently been made an offer, for which the CIO's approval was required, based on my skin colour. This isn't isolated to Old Mutual.
It's a pretty common thing in the public sector at the moment as well. My wife with several years of experience, was passed up for a position in place of 4 students with the right BEE status and zero experience. It's not a question of competence. She'll have to train them. It's not a question of salary - it's a fixed amount. It's very much a reason for us seriously looking at immigration next year though.

Liberty is the same when it comes to permanent positions. I got told to my face I am too white.

This isn't entirely true. It has been standard practice over the last few years that senior managers has to approve any white applicants, but certainly not the CEO.'

Keep in mind, the people at the companies hate doing this, they are forced to do so to achieve BEE targets.

Stop looking for work in SA. Let the black people sort themselves out. You should stand up for yourself, do your own thing, make your own money. Try to get it offshore. Take the future one day at a time.

Cool, well then don't expect me to keep any policies with you.

Will start moving them ASAP. Wouldn't want any of my white money to taint your accounts.

And where will you put it? All the companies are affected by this.

You going to to base this decision on a thread created by some random oke on the internet?

I don't see all companies with this policy.

Was at an interview with Alan Grey the other day and my colour never came in to it.

I don't have a problem with BEE, just don't tell me your have a policy against hiring white people.
