Was at an interview with Alan Grey the other day and my colour never came in to it.
Yes colour doesn't come into it, but it does play a role. It does put your CV at the bottom of the pile.

You going to to base this decision on a thread created by some random oke on the internet?
I wish there was a way one could easily see which companies has an overactive BEE policy and who is doing the minimum...
BEE and Transformation
It is important to note that BEE is not transformation. BEE is a reporting exercise and encourages specific activity in a business. However it is a quantative measure and does not take into account any qualitative elements.
If Transformation is not achieved then the business will struggle to maintain their BEE Score. This becomes more evident the larger the business.
Transformation, in essence, is the establishment of a fair working environment along with the removal of preconceptions and assumptions.
Once a staff team is operating together side by side with a common goal in mind and within a clearly understood corporate culture then you have achieved transformation.
Employment Equity numbers do come into the equation but reporting on Employment Equity is obviously not transformation.

I've been informed that from 8 December 2015 Old Mutual will not employ a white person (male or female) without approval from the Old Mutual CEO.
This applies to both permanent and contract employees.
If anyone knows what the policy is at the other large financial services companies like Sanlam, Allan Gray, Coronation, Prudential etc, can you please post here?
Perhaps an intrepid MyBB journalist can do some investigation and write an article?
I'm looking for a new contract, and I'd prefer not to apply for anything if it'll be a waste of time.
It happens though. Again, approval was needed to make me an offer. Approval was obtained but the exec had to fight for it and motivate the living daylights out of it.This is not even remotely true.
It would be very illegal and would open themselves to massive lawsuits

Shame on you low performing companies. Everyone should strive for a high scorecard score. There are quality BEE suppliers out there. Shop around and use them rather to improve your scorecard. Diversify you management, improve your scorecard. Diversity brings in many more ideas. Train up young emerging graduates and improve your scorecard. Before you know it, you can compete for major government contracts. Improve your scorecard. It's a win win for all.
Guys I hate to say it. But you need to improve your scorecards.

I thought that the Constitution disallowed discrimination based on skin colour?
Improving scorecards is hard work, you have to constantly work on it. If you studied day and night in your 1st semester of university and studied nothing the 2nd semester your marks will obviously come down. Improving your scorecard is something you always have to work on. Rather think of it is an opportunity than an obstacle. Since scorecards need to be worked on you need to hire more HR staff and through them you improve your scorecards as well. You just have to have a positive outlook and scores will improve.Lol!
Train up a graduate and he fcks off as soon as he gets an offer doubling his salary, because everyone wants to improve their scorecard...
Get Africans like Zimbabweans, Congolese or guys from Indians on scarce skills visas. They are desperate and much more loyal than locals. Other companies will be more hesitant to steal them in case of possible culture clashes.
Let them apply for permanent residence when they worked a couple of years and watch your BEE rating shoot up.
