10 Mbps+ Neotel FTTX here soon

And then all Telkom does is bump up their line speeds to ADSL2+... R3000 (Neotel) vs R500 (Telkom), easy game. At least this will encourage Telkom to get a move on with their upgrade (which I have a suspicion they are being deliberatly slow about).

On that point - I find it slightly worrying that mobile broadband speeds (21Mbps) are 5 times faster than our fastest DSL offering from Telkom. The price might be in a different league, but still...

True... the claimed mobile speeds are much faster than cable... but what they say, and what we can do, not always same thing...
"Over the last two years Neotel has become well known for its wireless Internet offerings".hehehe... not really famous for the best reasons :-)
This service would be good for the office, iso leased line... but alas, not for us.... we canot get any cables out here in the bushes... too much affirmative reclaiming of any cables :-(

See what a bit of true competition can do in the market place. We still have no competition in the fixed line market, thanks to Gov, so the monopoly has no incentive to up their game.

I agree it is silly comparing ADSL en fibre. There are no specifics. Will the fibre be guaranteed like diginet, or best effort like adsl? Contention ratios? SLAs? You cannot compare on speed alone.

Good luck Neotel but I think you're going to have to really up your game to try and recover any sort of credibility in the SA broadband market!

If they make it R3000 it would be a great product and once you have a fiber line in your office Neotel can upgrade the line to nearly any speed.

Not sure why this is only being noted now. I believe that Noetel has offered the 10mbps fibre for at least the last 6 months as my work has had the 10mbps Neotel service for this duration. Connection is really fast. It is a symmetric service delivering 10mbps up and down. On speedtest at 6pm the other night I was getting aroung 8mbps down and 5mbps up. There was likely a number of people and services still using the connection.

So you can tell us how much data you get? Or is it uncapped?

Neotel is set to start rolling out its next generation broadband offering: a 10 Mbps fibre to the premise service
So your business can get NO throughput at a faster line speed! Would make a good advertising slogan?

WOW, this is so cool, will probably be available to most of us in 2017 and will only set you back R5000 pm.

The speed will be amazing though, i mean 10Mbps, that is nothing to complain about... too bad it will still come with a 3Gb cap.

Can't help but say.... too little.... too late.... too expensive...

Make it R300 p/mb uncapped int. and SOLD!
Though not going to happen, but, fttx woul be a nice start!
I think we, or the isp should pay for the rent of the line so that we can pay for either a fibre line or adsl and be guarenteed an isp that is NOT telkom or neotel

awesome product, especially if you want to replace something like expensive ATM or 8x4mb bonded DSL. Well done neotel.

They can promise / deliver whatever the hell they want.

I warn everyone to stay AWAY from Neotel!!!
As a ex customer of theirs, I warn you, they are worse in EVERY way than any other company (including Telkom - hell, TK is better!)

10mb fibre? Thats a sick joke, you can get 500mb cable (not here ofcourse). 100mb should be the minimum and up to 1GBbs for businesses, anything else is just a waste of good fibre.
