With the proposed per Gb billing system, having a DSL1024 will get rather costly..

Question: is "DSL1024" 1mbps?

yeh

beat you too it!

IMO it's pointless for anyone to get 1Mbps - you'll just reach your cap faster and it's more expensive...

I called them and they claim a 14 - 21 day waiting list.

Why don't they call it 1mbps? Isn't that more along the lines of what is offered internationally?

"Hi, I have 1024K DSL.."

1024 sounds better i suppose, it sounds more. Its like sayin I have 100 cents, mean while its only 1 rand :D

What a load of crap. I can bet you it will be more like 21 days - 4 months.
Who the hell at Telkom came up with 14 - 21 days - lying bastards :D

I suppose the question then is ...

If telkom is offering a greater bandwidth option, would it make sense for them to add the per GB system ?
Good chance they would do something like that, but why ?

Its like giving a bigger/faster car with the same amaount of petrol ...

Simple - 1mbs connection = 12 gb per day. Thats 12 * R60 = R720 per DAY for internet.
Now, you get a virus / worm and .... (see the picture).
