read paarlbergs 1st post, there is businessdsl 1024.
Probably to lazy to update that aswell on their site
 
They call it 1024 so you can compare it with the other packages. you know how use poor dumb PC users who don't know the difference between a meg and a kay. :P

But the they could also brand it as MEGABIT ADSL, with capitals and all, because that's got a better ring than 1024, and you can shout it on radio like FLEXI! or i-Go!.

What I meant, they call it 1024k UP and that should be DOWN, and 256k DOWN which should be UP.

This makes a huge difference in the advertising aswell.

i think doobi was refering to a earlier question.

I'd love to experience "1024" but no way in hell I'm going to pay R680+. To think thats exactly what we used to pay for line rental on the 512 package.
 
I dont now which illiterate person at Telkom publishes the stuff on their website, But if the DSL package is 1024 up i think alot of ppl would grab it, just think of the vpn posibilities.
 
Yip, I can imagine some stupid users coming in and seeing that since 512 is higher than "1"..512 must be faster.

Little do they notice the M and the [/b]K[/b] in the advertising...
 
hmm.. pop onto IRC and tell your friends that it'll cost around (US) $385 for 1 megabit and a 30 gig cap and watch their reaction..
 
By mentioning 'Mbps' Telkom will be admitting that they can support megabit services. 1024Kbps is still kilobit services!! :D
 
What are the premium and supreme packages, I can see no difference In the speeds just the prices, or is this supposed to the bundled modem option ( but it says the modem is free so why would the prices be different?)

Why would telkom state that they are going to start the per gig saga when they implement 1024 ADSL.

do you guys really think that they are that stupid.
hmm. from what i have been hearing and seeing i think so.

this amazes me that this implementation will come into effect when the per gig story hits the wall.

(are telkom trying to make their 6.6b profit in 1 month cause the way they are carrying on they might :D )

Anyway added my 2c now feed up with this s#%@
 
Having a 1Mbps broadband connection at R100/GB seems to be quite a contradiction.. hopefully Telkom has enough bandwidth to support everyone flocking to the 1 meg service - they've screwed with our minds so bad that most would think that R680 is cheap.

It's very similar to CNN repeatedly showing the planes hitting the towers after 9/11 - people got so used to it that it wasn't such a big thing anymore.
 
A cunning move by Telkom, but something that isn't entirely unexpected.
I feel sorry for those who will buy into the 1Mbit offering. Rumour has it that from 1 November, per GB charging will be in place. Rough calculations say that even 3GB usage will cost as much as 10GB does now.

ROFL silly telkom, I really might order it though. Maybe ICASA can smack Telkom on its nose like a bad dog and get them to reduce the prices. Lets see R680+R200(30GB) about R900. From the 1st Nov R680 + +-R2000(30GB) hmmmmm my R1200 for Uncapped 384K that I had since March doesn't sound so bad now. Pitty I can't get it anymore :(
