10mb -> 20mb, upgrade procedure ?

This is the MSAN in question, I was wrong about distance, it is 600m away. The Telkom technical team are adamant that I can only receive 10mb though.

Well that MSAN is not switched on yet or you are not connected to it yet. If it is about 600m away then you should be able to get 40Mbps VDSL without a problem but your attenuation is 20dB which is a distance of +-1.5km. You are not connected to that MSAN then. If it is live maybe you need to pm TelkomZA and ask if you can be moved to it.

Thanks so much, I've sent him message! Hopefully turnaround is better than the call centre.
 
New twist, I went to offices where technicians in my area do cut overs and was informed after checking on their system that my line is connected on the MSAN down the street. However the call center and Telkom agents online say that my exchange only supports 10mb.

1. I thought as soon as you are connected to MSAN you automatically have VDSL capability?
2. In addition to that, if I am on the MSAN, then my stats are horrific for 10mb adsl2?
3. Could this indicate more issues?

1. Yes that should be the case but I'm not so clued up with how MSAN's and VDSL work.....
2. Yes indeed. If it is 600m away from you and your stats look like that then it is poor. You have 1 of the two. A line fault with bad copper or your line is not taking a direct route to the MSAN and could possibly be going around the block and then to the MSAN.
3. Same as 2
