16 Channel DVR (Quote Please)

Does it specifically have to have 4 video output? What is your budget?

I am not currently using the Spot Output but it is something we might be looking at in the future.
It would be appreciated if I could get prices on various 16 Channel units. We can always adjust our budget if needed.

Have you tried regal or frankstreet, elvey, security warehouse or cameratron?

I know about frankstreet but the other companies do not sound familiar.
Might try giving them a ring, thank you

Have you considered a pc-based solution? I supply components to a company who build their own.

We have one and it is a nightmare :D

I much rather prefer a standalone DVR but thanks for offering your help.

Yeah not the best solution out there but they are cheap.... Like most things in life, you get what you pay for?

Edit : cameratron is one dodgy operation, their products are known to fail

If you can wait like two months we are getting our "hd-dvr's" in stock.

Well not quite, i haven't played with the stuff yet or even seen it but you get dvrs that are capable of using the serial digital interface which uses regular old bnc connectors in conjunction with the hd cameras to give you hd recording and viewing capabilities.

My boss describes it as the middleroad between analog systems and full on ip solutions.

But as i stated earlier, i haven't even played with these yet so im not qualified to comment any further on the technology and all that i have stated here is what i have gleaned from the dvr spec sheets and wikipedia.

Oh ja, there are higher resolution analog cams. up to 700tvl. Whether its worth the extra cost is debatable. I can't say that i have seen an improvement in image quality purely by increasing the tvl though.

If you can pm me your contact details, I would be happy to get one of our sales people to give you a call with a range of options.

Higher res cameras (600 tv lines ) are much easier to spot detail especially where money is concerned but the DVR has to be capable of recording the high res
I just now fitted my first IP cam here at home really amazing picture 1.3 meg cam no need for a DVR with this cam

Have been playing with footage from 16mp cams, the level of detail is incredible but these are expensive toys.

Military grade IP units are available locally. They're horribly pricey, however. We installed a couple of armoured ones with IR-capabilities at over a bar each.
