We started the day with this - batteries, an inverter and canvas containing a DB and prepaid meter.

Next up was drilling, dust and a few wires

Slowly but surely, things started taking shape as the day progressed.

The installed system is as follows:

- 8kw Deye Inverter
- 2 x 5kw Volta Pro Stage 1
- 14 x JA Solar Panels
- circuit breakers and boksies and trunking

We're still getting used to the setup and monitoring. Taking this big step is worth it. Thanks for all your inputs guys - your feedback is valued.

Neat looking install.

You'll probably need to monitor the temperature, the inverter is a bit close to the wall. IIRC the guideline is that there be no obstruction on the left (where the fans are), with a gap of something like 300/500mm (can't remember)...

We're keeping an eye on the temps of the kit in the room. That room is part of the kitchen; if need be, we can keep the door open and crank up the aircon (without contributing to load shedding!).

Are you not supposed to have your Solar setup in a seperate area with a 120min fire door?

I've done a few installations of those fire doors and also 120min drywall with the door.

All spec'cd by an Engineer...

This is what we paid. The installer made a few adjustments to the installation for the wiring (used a bit more) and roof mounting kit ( we put half of 1 string on house's pitched roof) but he didn't change the final price. We are very happy and we can't recommend Tariq enough.

close to R200 000

That engineer's "sign off" fee is the lowest I've seen in a long long time. Mine was at least double that.
