1st Car purchase (2nd hand)

Hi all,

So! I'm getting a car! I've applied for finance and am in the process of getting the car - yesterday I heard that my finance request has been approved and I need to go see the car etc and ya...

Suffice to say; I need help!

It's my 1st car so I need advice on what to do / what to look for etc.

The car I'm getting is under R59,995 and a black Opel Corsa Lite Sport with A/C, P/S, C/L, R/CD and alarm with 24,000km.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a great car (specs etc) but with the above specs and stuff, advice guys, please!
Things to go look out for, things to inspect, etc etc etc.

I got some other mags infront of me and there is almost the same car (older model) with more KM's (100000km+) for R52,995.

Just suspiciously low for a car that price. Make sure to check the chassis for accident damage and that the engine number matches.

Who are you buying it from? Private seller, dealer?
I would get it inspected by a third party, like the AA and get a report from transunion - the report will give the buyer history, accidents (if reported), theft, and est. retail value and it only costs R10.00.

Does the car have a service history with an Opel dealership?

Before I purchased by Toyota, I asked the for the past three dealers that serviced the car. I then contacted the dealers for the service report (what was done on the car - what was broken etc).
This came in quite handy - got the priced lowered because the previous owner never perform a major service.

My girlfriends father and her brother are going to look at the vehicle on Monday, both know vehicles very well.

It's from a Dealer - I also thought it was to good to be true, but I am hoping for the best and I trust my 2x professionals (as best as I can) and am hoping for the best.
 
Also ask if its a Code 3 car. There are no bargains at Dealers.
 
Bought my car through those well known dealerships that sells old rental cars(auto ped*****), they guarentee accident free car etc etc, you pay little bit extra but definitely worth it for the peace of mind, and any faults you spot within the first month they fix no matter what, and every 6 months get my car cleaned and polished free of charge :)
