1st Robovac suggestions

Yip Cavendish.

Then ABSA blocked my transaction as fraud on the WW CC so used the FNB CC instead. Bit annoying, but other than that, collection was smooth once I talked to a lady that knows how the keep aside feature work. You don't see any of these vacuums on display in this shop, all of them are in the stock room strangely enough. So I guess as long as it shows stock, you can keep aside and collect.

At least the mall map was accurate and I could walk straight to the store having looked up the location beforehand, because, well I never go to this mall.

Tell you what I don't think I've been in a mall since Covid. Just the notion of finding parking already annoys me, but it is what it is.

I hope they still offer their gift wrapping service.

Yeah don't attempt that, guaranteed failure. One of the very select few times, I can see a wagon or suv or bakkie doing a better mall job than my plat-kar.

Nah wasn't actually trying to, but a mate of mine also on a bike offered to go get it for me and I was like I very much doubt this is going to work.

I better start thinking of a new home for this vacuum since it can't go under the cupboard like my old one did.

X20+ on Special at Takealot.

(I just bought the X20+ now myself. Black Friday needs to end.)

2 others are 15% off if you are with FNB

Thats nice of them. But got mine now, and happy with it.

Vacuum performance: I would say, on par/equal with what the previous xiaomi lidar robot I had

Robot performance: 10 times better at least. hot damn, by remembering the map, it is so nice to send it to a specific room to clean. Now I can literally automate patterns. Daily the main living area, then alternate the days between one side of house and other side of house. Etc. Can have buttons to manually quickly vacuum a room etc. Will also be able to do the mopping separately etc.

Just took me a while to figure out the draeme hacs integration, but once I figured I need the beta release and how to do segment cleaning, its all good.

I'm curious. Does the X20+ pre-wet the mops before it starts a job ? I had a look at the manual but there's no indication

I'm looking at the S20+ ( moving the now old faithful Mijia 1C to the braai room ) and the manual indicates that it takes around a minute to wet the mop pads. By then, the room that it starts in would have a fair amount vacuumed but not properly mopped

It looks like one can do perform a clean first then mop. But I'd need to figure if it's pre-wetting while cleaning, or only when the mopping starts, in which case it's moot. Would also need to cobble together a sequence like that in HA as the S20+ doesn't have the best integration...yet.

My grand plan is that both vacuums automatically start when we leave the house and the place is clean when we get back. The old Mijia 1C is starting to get stuck under the couch and the loo's. So I need something with better vision to make this work nice

Be mindful if you have an alarm it will trip it due to heat and motion.

Can't answer the pre-wet question, I would imagine it just opens the taps as it activates mopping so will take a second or two before they are fully functional but really shouldn't be an issue.

They've dipped it to that price a few times but very briefly and every time I've missed it.

Will eat my hat if they actually have stock.
There were 5 left when I posted that. I bought one 20 minutes later. Arriving on Wednesday.

My X20+ is doing great.

Floors are spotless everyday. Going to change cleaning plan and only run it every 2nd day. Pointless wearing out parts prematurely.

Had a look at the filter bag, barely half full.

When you first get one that first sweep of a “clean” house is pretty insane but after that it settles down.

Would this work on laminate floors? I.e. risk of scratching?

Pulled the trigger on the S20+. Will revert on the alarm bit as the Mijia scuttles around without setting it off. Will be interesting to see if lidar plays with the PIR's

Yes it works 100% causing no damage. The wheels are rubberized for grip. The brushes are ( probably ) nylon and softer then a " skoppie " brush. We have laminates and tiles. No damage whatsoever after around 5 years of using one of these marvels of engineering
