arsenal would be ruined

Eto'o, 27, was quoted as saying he would look to leave the Nou Camp if the club's barren trophy spell continued throughout next season, with the Catalan giants' last piece of major silverware coming back in 2006.

now i know he said next season, but lets say a major club makes a bid for him before next season, i think its highly likely he will leave

I think the epl is a top 3 these days, liverpool only seem to play football when it involves europe.

Also true. They have not ever seriously challenged for the Premier league since it became the premier league. I mean even Newcastle and Villa have managed a challenge of some kind over the years and Blackburn even somehow won it in 1995

liverpool are looking better than i have seen them look in years

torres has added so much to liverpool its crazy

gerrard and torres are just amazing together and i have a feeling next season liverpool wont be out of the running in 3 months

they have been winning away from home alot in the last 4 months something they can never manage

Problem is, Rafa loves the CL. I foresee them playing the same way again- at times this season they have been really really poor in the league for long spells, which is why they have never challenged for anything but 4th spot.

Dont always take things so literally. Eto got into so much hot water after that statement, that he went onto explain what he meant. Cos people were questioning his loyalty.

He went onto say, that was NEVER his intention and he wants to end his career at Barca, he only said that cos as a player, he doesnt want to not challenge for silverware again cos the club needs to win.

He then went on asking the media not to read too much into it cos his heart belongs to Barca.

Yeah, don't always believe what is written in the press. I'll believe it only if I see an actual interview with the player saying those actual words.

From news24

Madrid - Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has said he will leave the club and head abroad if they fail to win any trophies before the end of next season.

"If we continue not to win any trophies next year, then I will go somewhere else," the Cameroon striker said at a promotional event near Barcelona on Sunday.

"I've done it all in Spain, I've reached the heights here and so if I do leave I will go to another league."

Eto'o made the declarations the day after his side's 0-0 draw at home to city rivals Espanyol effectively ended their already slim hopes of winning the league title.

They are due to take on Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old, who joined Barcelona from Real Mallorca in 2004, said his side still held out hope they could end the season on a high by reaching the Champions League final.

"They are a step above us, but let's see what happens on Wednesday," he said. "For me it is a big motivation that they are being classed as the favourites, that makes me even more keen to beat them."

And where and when exactly did he make this "Statement" that you are referring to? So far, I see no evidence of it. Only what I've posted.

Eto is great just where he is.

I wish Ronaldinho will somehow stay at Camp nou and work his differences out with the club.

they will hj

remember when ramos took over spurs where in the bottom 3

their defense was a total waste of time, ramos in the last 3 months has changed spurs alot and their defence is not leaking 3-5 goals a game anymore

watch next season, spurs will be in the running im sure of it

And if not, there is a place for him at United. :) He would surely keep Park, Anderson, Fletcher and Nani on the bench...

Ramos = brilliant coach = the Cup King!!!

Hows that the Cup King conquers Spain - then in his first season, wins a cup in England.

Samuel Eto'o retracts threat to leave Barcelona

Samuel Eto'o may have stopped short of committing his long-term future to Barcelona, but the forward was at pains to back off from the weekend's threats to leave the club.

Football fans' forum
Eto'o, 27, was quoted as saying he would look to leave the Nou Camp if the club's barren trophy spell continued throughout next season, with the Catalan giants' last piece of major silverware coming back in 2006.

Clear intentions: Samuel Eto'o has denied wanting to leave Barcelona in search of trophies
As Barcelona prepare for their Champions League semi-final against Manchester United on Wednesday, the Cameroon international admitted to being unhappy over the club's lean period, but he denied threatening to walk out on the club.

"I am surprised by all this reaction. I want to make it clear that I never threatened to leave Barcelona," Eto'o said in a radio interview. "What I said came at an event with children where I answered questions relaxed and, above all, speaking truthfully.

"This season I have the opportunity to win the Champions League, but if I do not win it and then the coming year I don't win anything either, it will be three years without obtaining anything. A club such as Barca cannot allow that.

"What I said was that I would not feel comfortable playing in a team that signed me to score goals and to win, and I don't manage it. I would not be able to look the fans in the face."

When asked what he would do if asked the same question again, Eto'o said: "I would answer it the same because I cannot lie to a child. I have always been honest and always will be. Next year I will be at Barcelona. I hope to start next season at my best level because during the last two seasons injuries have affected me. I hope to be able to help the team improve and that, all being well, we can win many things."

Eto'o added that if he did leave Barcelona, his only likely destinations would be either to return to former club Real Mallorca or go abroad.

"When I said that I had reached the top, I wanted to say that after Barca I would not want to play in Spain. I would only go to Mallorca," he added. "If I leave Barcelona I will not play for any other Spanish team apart from Mallorca. For example, I will never play with Real Madrid."

Turns out my Google skills are up to scratch :)

Turns out.
If you never posted the follow up article people would have gone into frenzy thinking he wants to leave.

I liked the fact when he came there he benched Robinson. When the media asked him why, he just commented. If Robinson wants to leave, he can leave.

:)
