Like the India vs Aus!!! Thats what a test match should be like IMO

We are dealing with two far more polite teams here...

As for my view of the Aussies.... rather no comment! They get away with a lot of cr_p... suppose that's what happens when you are the big boy on the playground.

He hasn't scored a century for 3yrs and is still in the national squad.

Hershie needs to go play provincial cricket and prove that he is back in form.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing, the man magically regained his form in one week. Diepenaar should have replaced Mckenzie.

Yeah I reckon Boeta can consider himself a little unlucky. Seems he isn't in with the right crowd IE. Smith and Mickey Mouse...

I would have been very tempted to open with AB and Smith, seems the 2 of them thrived off each others positive energy in the 2ND innings in the 2ND test. If the 2 of them get off to a positive start they can win the match for SA in the 1ST session by a.) seeing off the new ball b.) scoring at around 5 an over c.) demoralizing the fielding side but alternatively if they go cheaply that advantage is out the window...

Gibbs is a very lucky fellow to get another bite so soon after being dropped. Let's see how he handles the pressure!!!

Im kinda hoping the Windies arent down and out because of the loss and they really bring it to the Porteas.

The summer tours in SA is always a walk over it was nice seeing some effort for a change coupled with the suspence of not knowing whats gonna happen.

I haven't seen Dipps play for a while to be honest, but always thought he was more suited to Tests than the run he got in the ODI's.

I just think he is a bit too slow for my liking, that's Dipps, Amla, Kallis, Prince ... they're not going to do wonders to the Run Rate, admittedly it's Test matches but you dont wanna go at a snails pace either.

Doubt it, Gibbs cant be replaced easily he offers to much to the team, I find it weird how theres always one guy that take the blame when the team stuffs up. All the players brough nothing to the table in the 1st match except maybe Kallis, but Gibbs got the boot. And then the whole anti-climax with Mckenzie lol... what was that!?!

Experience cannot excuse a year without a test century, let alone 3 at international level.

Give it too someone younger and hungrier.

Agreed which is why it would be tactically shrewd to open with Smith and AB and give them license to attack the bowlers, put them off their rhythm, see off the new ball and make a significant opening stand at a rate of about 5 an over or better, then let the more orthodox batsmen follow...

The way they went about business against the Windies in the 2nd innings of the 2nd test was remarkable. Of course it's different setting a total then chasing a smallish total down but that aggressive approach is how the game should be played IMO.

As much as I like Gibbs I got to agree. He seems to have lost his edge somewhat in test cricket which is odd cause he is still scoring big runs in ODI's... Still you gotto say he is so due it's not funny. Don't be surprised if he scores big this game...

Dippennaars career test stats do not make for exceptional reading. In 38 test matches and 62 innings for SA he has an average of only 30.14, which is only slightly better than the 27 of Gibbs over the last 12 months that we are complaining about. At least Gibbs has a career average of over 40....

Hmm.... sorry, but I can't agree with you there. Gibbs is in the team as a batsmen and he got two ducks in the first test. You can't get more of a failure than that... and that was coming off a not so good year, and ages since the last century from him.

McKenzie had been scoring prolifically domestically and deserved a chance. He scored 23 more runs than Gibbs had in both innings of the 1st test and neither he nor the selectors can be blamed that he picked up an injury. Gibbs can count himself lucky that he did though....

The Windies should be nothing more than fine tuning for us. They really not a good side, little depth and even less talent and we had better expose this in the 3rd test.

Bare in mind they ranked 8th in test cricket behind NZ whom we have just annihilated at home. We need forward momentum and that means annihilating the Windies too.

As mentioned before India, England and OZ beckon and away series's.

In addition to that it was a plumb of a delivery that got Neil out. He was looking rock solid prior to being dismissed, he certainly didn't give it away...

Lol thats funny, talent??? thats all they have they not bad players they just dont get it right most of the time. When they do they can be a top ranked side!! Much like the Pakis but on a lower scale.

Selectors would be looking at Boeta's current form in the supersport series where he is doing pretty well this season with an average of over 50, 3x100's and 1x50 in 12 innings...

In fact Neils average is 41.75 while Boeta's is 51.81
