While that's true, it's good for the game to see the Windies come good. Being ranked 8th in the world doesn't mean that they have to stay 8th. From the force they were in the 80's to the mediocre team they were a few months back, it's nice to see them pull off a win against meaningful opposition (even if it was us). As long as we win the series I don't mind them beating us in one match, hopefully they learned from it and start playing more competitively. Close contests are the things that attract viewership after all.
 
Agreed. I would rather watch a close match, even if we lose, than be bored watching us roll over a weak team.

Plus, the windies are and always have been the coolest team in cricket. It has been sad to watch them struggle the past several seasons, and its exciting to see them (hopefully) get their act together.

Going off topic quite a bit but talking about viewership.

Am i the only one that prefers listening to the cricket on the radio as opposed to watching on the tele ?

Don't really watch it on SABC because of their retarded commentators. I watch it on Supersport because they have Robin Jackman, he's the man :D

Not sure about that, Aussie stadiums are always full and they never frigging lose, same can be said about India and the support they receive in India.

I reckon we start losing the test to the Windies in Durban and the stadium will empty out very quickly...

Chris Gayle was smiling even after they lost the 2nd test so I guess that win really meant a lot to them. I also wanna see a tight match but SA are the type of side that rebounds VERY well from a loss. I wouldn't be surprised if we walk all over the Windies in Durbs.

But there's still the ODIs, SA has a really good rivalry with the Windies going back to some matches we had with them in international competitions so hopefully the one dayers will be nice and closely contested.

Indeed, Robin is quite good.

Jack Bannister was also one of my fav's, not sure what happened to him though.

also do most of my cricket on the radio - but have to turn it off when zolani comes on...

my 2 cents - the WI are on the up and, while outside of gayle and chanderpaul, they do lack some experience and talent, the test matches so far evidence no lack of spirit

Agreed, and I imagine very hungry for victory.
 
Bannister I think went back to England. I still remember the series before the last one when England toured here, and he said he'd eat paper if England lost, and he did :D

Boycott I think isn't as involved as much as he used to be after being diagnosed with cancer.

But yeah those three make the commentary very entertaining.

Peter Bacela? He was another overenthusiastic cake, shouting for everything, he's got the energy but he should really give up commentary, I used to laugh at him more than listen to what he had to say.
 
best radio experience would be bbc test match special while dozing in a hammock with a beer or three
