A win is a win...though i was shocked the margin was slightly less than expected. Points in the bad better than NRR. We must beat Eng and NZ and that's it. No need to take NRR into account then.

Actually, its only ENG we need to beat then. Beat ENG and we are through, regardsless of NRR. The only thing after that is positions on the log. It may just be better to finish 4th, for example if NZ beat AUS and finish top of the log.
 
Finally AB de Villiers unleashed the potential we know he's got.
(Herchelle Gibbs is my all-time favourite player, but AB is knocking on the door.... :) )

It is true and it was a good performance. We still need to learn how to bowl out a side cheaply though. We dominated Wi in all aspects of this game and still only won by less 60 odd runs. Still, if we keep on winning like this, and most importantly batting first, then NRR will not matter.

That game was nice to watch if you support SA!

But also, that last wicket partnership by WI exposed a weakness from our side to finish sides off.....
 
yea i said ab was due for a big innings

ab for me is our best batsmen, he just needs to learn control

he needs to set himself for a few overs instead of trying to hit from ball 1

prince out kemp in is the change i would make

our semi final berth is in our hands

beat england we through loose we out

honestly if we loose to england we deserve to go out

When Herchelle Gibbs knocked out the window with a six!!! Woohoo! :)

Also when the West Indian commentator said: ''Here he goes again...another six.'' Very funny.
 
Great batting performance - but we really need to be more ruthless at the death. Not sure that I agree with Smith's choice of Smith for death bowler :rolleyes:

Langeveldt has been by far the best SA bowler in the WC, and Nel obviously played himself into the team on Saturday. What have Pollock and Ntini achieved between them? I agree that Pollock adds some batting, but that is a secondary concern when we have only managed to bowl out our opponents once in seven matches. Playing against Bang, Ire, Neth, Scot it should be a given that we bowl them out.
 
I dunno about leaving prince out, he is more reliable as a batsman than kemp AND saves us a few runs in the field + run outs..tho yesterday he got it wrong twice i think(boundry fielding)

Its hard to read the game after 5 or 6 wickets fell.. sure the run rate was up there still but smith bowling was more for speeding up the over rate + trying to purchase a few easy wickets which he did twice still fetching 52 in 5 overs.. Anyways the pitch was gud to bat on and me thinks reason we won was due to their batsmen making mistakes and good fielding. Against Nz there will be better batting and good fielding on both sides. For us to win we'd have had to had 380+
 
How about swop ntini for langers and then let nel open with polly?

Yup. Just got to beat Eng, nothing else matters.

But have a look a the standings:NZ are looking good, but they have yet to play the top teams: SA, Aus and SL. I'm not saying that NZ aren't one of the strongest teams there, just that they've only played the weaker Super8 teams so far. Also ahead of us, SL still have to play Aus and NZ.
There is a lot that can still happen.

If SA loses to NZ and Bang beats Eng and West Indies and Ireland, where does that leave SA?
