SA cricket has been TALKING about improving the spinner situation for years now. They even had Terry Jenner out here giving his 2c worth - but selectors continue to be ignorant and short sighted.

Ntini is still bowling his two bad balls an over. How we can go into any match without our leading wicket taker in the world cup is beyond me.

Why does Smith persist in opening the bowling with Pollock and Ntini? FFS mix it up and give Hall and Nel a shot.

oz still need to play against sl - dont think oz will lose to both sl and nz in super 8.
If Aus lose to NZ but beat SL and NZ beat us, they will both have 12 points. SL will have 10 and SA/ENG 8.

Quota I tell you. They had an "agreement" to take a certain number of 'non white' players to the WC, but just watch after the WC. Peterson will be put to pastures and replaced by either Johan Botha / Paul Harris. The latter already being in the test team. They may include Tandi Tshabalala as a "learning" opportunity.

I think the combination that should be is Polly and Langeveld. If you don't get anything from Polly after 3 overs, bring Nel at first change and then Polly can bowl later when the ball is older. Hall seems to do well at the death so I would save at least 4 of his overs till then.

 that's why we HAVE to beat Eng. Doesn't matter what happens here and we LOSE to Eng we out, simple as that.

Out :)

We need two more quick wickets to put some pressure on them, I reckon bring in Hall next over. Conditions might suit him

I am actually getting very tired of this quota crap. If you want people to come through the ranks then put lots of money into grass roots not a very select token individuals. Maybe I should just take my business and join my brother in Aus. At least they have reasonable internet bandwidth compared to here and there is far less politics in everything.

Yes, although it would not have been if SA had just finished off WI and played with a bit more gumshin against Ireland. We could have won this game and been almost certainly through even with a loss to England.

This quota thing is a bunch of horse ****. If our best players are all white then so be it, take them all to the world cup and leave the blacks/coloureds/indians back at home to watch the matches on TV.

hope fleming scores lots of runs - he's on my dream team
He is really good and an excellent captain (The best at the WC IMO). If he gets more then 50, NZ will canter home. He just controls the game so well.

Only once have SA managed to dismiss the opposition and that was thanks to Langeveld who is now suddenly not good enough to be in the side.

SA's results:

South Africa 353/3 (40/40 ov); Netherlands 132/9 (40/40 ov)
Scotland 186/8 (50 ov); South Africa 188/3 (23.2 ov)
Australia 377/6 (50 ov); South Africa 294 (48 ov)
Sri Lanka 209 (49.3 ov); South Africa 212/9 (48.2 ov)
Ireland 152/8 (35/35 ov); South Africa 165/3
Bangladesh 251/8 (50 ov); South Africa 184 (48.4 ov)
South Africa 356/4 (50 ov); West Indies 289/9 (50 ov)

In comparison, Aus's results who have on only one occasion failed to bowl out their opposition and that was because it was a 22 over match:

Australia 334/6 (50 ov); Scotland 131 (40.1 ov)
Australia 358/5 (50 ov); Netherlands 129 (26.5 ov)
Australia 377/6 (50 ov); South Africa 294 (48 ov)
Australia 322/6 (50 ov); West Indies 219 (45.3 ov)
Bangladesh 104/6 (22/22 ov); Australia 106/0 (13.5/22 ov)
England 247 (49.5 ov); Australia 248/3 (47.2 ov)
Ireland 91 (30 ov); Australia 92/1 (12.2 ov)

For interest sake, NZ have only failed to dismiss their opposition twice (ENG and SL). We are not in the same league.
