Yeah, and when you mention match fixing people give you funny looks. I thought Bouchers missed catch yesterday was bad. Prince's and Gibbs' missed catches weren't THAT easy but for Bouch to drop that..

SA just got very dispondant yesterday - the pitch affected their phychie. The pitch got the better of them, and they carried those negative thoughts into the 2nd half of the game.

1) england 2) probably oz 3) nz or sl... knock off those teams and u win the wc. Easy.

I dont think smiddy has 'captain' maturity/experience to pull it off. I dont think they will.

Yip. The OZ game will clearly be the hardest.
I think a SL game will be hardest. Aus have enough pace to feed our batsmen runs, SL can take the pace off and they will have to work much harder. SL don't seem to score that many but they are also more difficult to score off.

BMT - really, only applies to the WC, and SA have yet to show this.

I am just scared of OZ batting 1st and setting us like 400. The 438 game seems a long long time ago right now.

I agree with Abe that our batsmen really struggle to play bowlers that can take the pace off the ball so a game against SL also looks like a slightly tougher match...but no use talking about it, we first gotta GET to the semis :). Like Kallis said in the media conference thing, we're definitely capable of pulling it off..just a matter of intense preparation and staying focused on the day.

U guys have beaten sl many times before, home and away, so what makes it different now?

Wickets are slow. Our record against SL of late is not that great. Only Hogg poses a real question in the Aus side and I would back our batting against Aus. Already AB and Smith showed what one can do against the Aus attack. Picture the same thing happening if we had to bat first. SL have the ability to brush aside any team on these wickets. Malinga is in awesome form with the reverse swing at the end and Murali is always a threat. Vaas is probably also one of the best opening bowlers in the WC. If anything, I think their batting is their problem at the moment. They have a couple of good guys but none of them are really on top of their game. Jayasuria is always a threat but I think a good captain can squeeze their batting. Jayawardene has proven to be a good thinking captain. I woud rate him as probably the second best in the world cup behind Fleming.

On that note, I think the two most rounded sides in the WC are NZ and SL. Aus are a little weak on the spinning side but have close to if not the best batting attack at the WC (Tough call between them and SA although Aus have more depth in the middle order). It would be interesting to see how Aus so if they lose a couple of quick ones (Hayden especially). Symonds and Hussy have not had much to do and they may work against them.

Same can be said about Australia. So again I say I dont really care who we face, we just gotta knuckle down and put in a good performance and beat our opposition.

My money on Aus :o

I think that SL is a great team, and should make it to the final but, sorry to say, I just don't see anyone beating Aus right now.

Of course, if SL were to beat Australia I hope that do it by a massive margin, and knock Aus off the top spot. Might make things a little easy for us :)
