I dunno whether to classify Kallis as a batting or bowling allrounder after his performance on Saturday, he didn't perform too well in either dept. I still cant believe he wasted that last power play. And I also disagree with the guys here giving Smith flak because he really has matured and improved as a captain (having some attitude is a good thing).

Smith was a legend and he has matured a lot as a captain and a player.

I would still have batted first though...

smith firstly needs to learn if he wins the toss freakin bat agreed

but basically we have got to many slow players kallis prince in our team

the front men do well only for those 2 to come in and slow everything down

90% of our play at the moment is positive, just 2 guys making it negative

prince aint a one day player so i think we need to move and get over that fact

kallis for me sucks as a one day batsmen and rarely does anything more than slow our run rate down

it cannot be hard to come to the crease and get a run a ball when your as big and powerful as kallis

KALLIS ftl

let him play his slow ass 5 day game during 5 day games

KALLIS DONT YOU FREAKIN UNDERSTAND 50 OVER CRICKET
WHEN CHASING 370 DONT BLOCK THE DAMN BALL ALL THE TIME

o and im actually growing to like smith, he is a very positive player and captain well he tries to be but with guys like kallis around its going to very hard

KALIS FOR THE BIG FREAKIN LOSS

Captain Biff and his boys....LOL :)

My favourite in the team is Herchelle Gibbs - even ol' Shane Warne (sheepshagger) said that he is very unpredictable.

I like that. ;)

"He's a class player in both forms of the game, but the tempo of his innings probably wasn't what they needed."
Ricky Ponting tries to sound sincere after Jacques Kallis's stodgy 48 off 63 balls as South Africa tried to chase 378 against Australia

Even Ponting thinks it's where we lost the plot!

I hope we dont relax against Bangladesh in the Super 8s. India were so over confident against them and see what happened in their match.

Also remember that Kallis is a very clean cricketer (thanks Sanex) & a D-grade model.

That's also important. :)

I hope so too. Time to put in a really convincing performance. Set a big total. And actually bowl them out for once.

Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR
Ponting:272 266 31 10083 164 42.90 12591 80.08
Kallis: 250 236 43 8696 139 45.05 12222 71.15

The reason why Aus are better is above. Take a look at Pontings (Aus premier batsman) strike rate compared to Kallis (SA premier batsman). In tests it is even worse.

Kallis: 107 182 29 8430 189* 55.09 19717 42.75
Ponting: 110 183 25 9368 257 59.29 15890 58.95

The modern game is about batting quicker and getting more runs. SA have three options. Change Kallis by coaching him, work around him or drop him. At the moment, the best option looks like 2 (work around him). That means not putting him in to bat when you need 7.5 an over and finding a quality replacement. I personally would like to see Kallis batting anywhere between 3 and 6 depending on the match situation and either Bosman or VB Van Jarsveld coming in at 4/5.

Smith
AB
Gibbs
VB
Kallis
Kemp
Boucher
....

Well that doesn't matter. SA is a class side and we were well on our way to getting that total and embarrassing Aus just like we did at 438. Its simple, Biff had cramps which was bad luck for us, AB's runout was like 1 in a 1000 chance so more bad luck for us and Kallis just killed it altogether. Nuf said.

Reckon he'd had been run out regardless of the direct hit. Gilchrist was well positioned. Agreed, hard luck on the cramps, but had that been the World Cup Final would he have returned sooner back into the game?

runout

That runout was crazy....
If AB stayed it would have been another story...:)

Question???

If you lose a game in the World Cup, can you still be called the best after winning the final??

if's and buts gonna get us nowhere!!!!
Lets look at the next 6 SA games:
SL 28th
IRE 3rd
BAN 7th
WI 10th
NZ 15th
ENG 17th

So, we have to basically win 4/5 out of 6 games...
Assuming we win BAN and IRE...
we have to win 2/3 out of the other 4 big teams...
