Question of the Day: How do you normally pay for purchases in stores?
The reason is simple: Kallis has an orthodox textbook technique. The secret to modern one day cricket is variation. Players like Ponting and Hayden and Hussey and Boucher all do something that textbook cricketers don't - they move around in the crease almost every delivery - changing the angle to maximise big hitting and power. Bowlers are no longer bowling machines delivering the same delivery over after over - they vary everything from pace to line and length (well, that pretty much excludes South Africa) - and the textbook players don't adapt all too well to all these variations. In the good ol' days, we were taught by our coaches what a "good" line and length is - and we were drilled to bowl this line and length over and over again until we got it with reasonable frequency. Cricket today is a scientific game - and analysis is no longer just deciphering a particular bowler or batsman's weakness - no - it's determining where does he favour playing, where does he pitch his foot when delivering a ball, how does he respond when the chips are down, etc etc. Field placings are meticulously calculated per batsman, and someone like Jacques Kallis who doesn't change his batting style makes field placing rather easy. Have a look next time you see Kallis bat on what percentage of dot balls and singles bowled to him are as a result of very well placed fielders. Then compare that to Hayden's or Ricky Ponting's batting and see how difficult it is to set good fields to these batsmen. The day Jacques Kallis starts to move around the crease to counter the variation from the bowlers, that day Kallis will start picking up the pace - till then, Kallis is losing grip on the one day game.

It boils down to Eng, NZ, SA and WI for making third/fourth place in the super 8's....
We want Aus to kick everyone's asses in the super 8's
SL, they becoming a formidable and solid force.
WI are on home ground.
NZ, goodish form, but unpredictable.
Eng, stars don't always shine.
SA, hmmm.... well, this whole thread talks about SA...
Bangladesh, hopefully they cause an upset with NZ or Eng or WI... that'll help SA immensely.

Its not all Kallis's fault though. They sent him in knowing the way he bats. Heck we all know the way he bats. How many of us realised they messed up the moment he stepped on the pitch? I'm betting I wasn't the only one who thought OMFG wot the eff are they doing sending him in now!
PS. Will be rooting for WI today. Don't really expect them to win though. Aussies seem to be the ones with the mental strength.

Why is SABC showing so many Super 8 matches delayed at like 22.00?? I dont get it, if they can show group matches they can show Super 8s.

Yeh, they show all the round robin matches, which are far less important, but they dont show the super 8 matches live which are obviously more exciting and more important.

quick question with regard to dstv...
I have a satellite dish and decoder, and all the installation stuff.
If I i get it installed by some arb installation company, do I have to get a smart card if I only want it for sabc and etv?
Only plan on getting proper dstv in about 4 months time...Our current outside aerial works, but only for a couple of channels per direction. eg. i can watch sabc3 and sabc2 clearly, but to watch etv, I have to fiddle with outside aerial..
etc etc....Or should I get a booster thingy?
