I think it is better England loose. Make it a four horse race so we can def make the semi's.

England must beat SL, I think we've got a better chance against Eng just from our standing records against them - and half our team have no clue how to actually read Murali - or see what Malinga is throwing at them for that matter. So I would like England to go through to the semis and take on Aus - at least Aus and England have good history and it would take off some of the psychological pressure Aus puts on us.

I agree with this. SL are a danger with tow great bowlers who throw, and whom we cannot read at all( i am not suprised)

make that//looks like 230 or so

An England win will put SL in a lot of trouble. They still have to play NZ and Aus who are IMO close to being the strongest sides at the WC.

yup, i hope Eng win, then no more silnga - thro malinga ;)

sa are the not the strongest, we have the most talented players but we choke against the aussies every game we will see how we go against nz

For NZ we need to see off Bond and Vettori, so we have about 30 overs of free scoring. Don't think we really have to worry about them, we have a good record against them. The toughest game apart from Aus would have been SL, and we beat them.

I think we need to worry more about the windies, they always seem to beat us in the big competitions.

You forgot SA ;)
Actually not so, we have already beaten SL as well. We only have to beat BANG and win one game of WI, NZ, ENG to have a chance of qualifying.

Lets assume BANG and IRE loose all of their other games and ENG win we get something like:

Australia 8 (Played 4) SL, NZ, ENG
New Zealand 8 (Played 4) SA, SL, AUS
Sri Lanka 6 (Played 5) NZ, AUS
South Africa 6 (Played 4) NZ, ENG, WI
England 6 (Played 4) SA, WI, AUS
West Indies 4 (Played 5) SA, ENG

This next part obviously assumes a ENG win today.

In order for WI to qualify, they need to win both games and have SL loose the rest if their games and either ENG or SA loose all of their games. If SL loose the rest of their games, it's likely that ENG and SA will be the other two in the semis. AUS and NZ are almost certain because of their run rates.

One more win from AUS or NZ against a strong side from this point forward is a guaranteed place in the semis. 2 for either SA, SL and ENG has the same effect.

Net run rate could well play a part if their are 3 teams on 8 points.

Yes, WI are our bogey team in big comps. NZ is a really tough game. Flemming is a really good captain. They also have a good mix of bowlers which we are lacking.
