2007 NZ tour to SA thread

I think we have a very good bowling lineup. With the likes of morne morkel waiting to come back and some other players which bodes well for SA. I think we still need more depth in our batting though. Our opening pair are a bit shaky. I guess finding good openings pair is a worldwide problem at the moment except Aus...

Opening the batting is always difficult (except according to mercurial's logic) so most opening pairs will be a bit shaky sometimes.

Smith and Gibbs has actually done very well over the years. They find themselves on most partnership and openers record lists. They are also the only opening pair ever that has 3x 300 opening partnerships.

if i look back to the series we had away to australia a while back, we actually performed really well but the results just didn't go our way. i remember aus being 175-3, then we bowled them out for 258. the day that happened i knew we starting to develop a really special team. i think we're the only team that can really take on aus. sure NZ gives them a tough time but that's 90% of the time when NZ plays home. i think SA performs well home and away and that's the true sign of a good team.

We played very well against Aus in Aus (we sucked at home though) but we lost critical sessions and dropped critical catches, which cost us the results.

At least we've learned from that and our fielding is top notch now...fielding reflects a lot on the team and at the moment all's looking good. This friday's game shouldn't be too difficult considering NZ have half a team.

Its a bit boring. I taught there would be some exciting cricket...
If SA walks over NZ. Windies is pretty much a walk over aswell even though i used to support them.

our fielding has always been great but that series was just crazy when it came to our fielding. i don't know what was going on.

Our fielding used to be great, but there was a period a couple of years ago when we let it slip. But they worked hard on fielding and having Jonty there as fielding coach plus a senior mentor type figure helps alot.

I see Kemp as thrown in the towel. Gave up on SA cricket and will be signing Kolpak most probably.

Interesting one that.

Source?

He was just nominated as vice captain for the ODI team. It seems pretty strange that he'd quite SA cricket now.

Ouch, I wonder what made him do that... apart from money, its a little stupid I think.

He gives his reasons in the article.

But mostly because of the criticism he gets from the public and media every time he has to bat, from what I understand.

So almost time for the second test.

Looks like Neil Mckenzie might get a game, will be quite interesting to see what will happen because he is busy playing for the Lions and is 157 not out from yesterday.
