Bought me an Acer Aspire One 2 months ago. It's awesome! I was even able to play world of Warcraft on it yesterday (I was bored at work).

Basically use it to connect to wireless networks (legally ) and get emails and internets Very handy and this is what a portable computer should be...small and compact!

Got a HP5101 - 320Gb, 2GB RAM, and just about everything else but an optical drive. THis is a true business netbook - highly recommended

I have also heard good things about the Acer Aspire One. I would however think that the Lenovo S10 is also a good choice - I am however a bit of a Lenovo fanboy so maybe my opinion is not entirely objective

I love my dell mini 9.I dj'ed for 9 hours straight on friday and it stayed cool and didnt bug out like my older more poweful laptop.What a machine!

Actually, the low end for the Acer Aspire One is the A110L, which goes for R1999. That's well below any of the competitors.

A110L gets my vote for best netbook; it's the only one that truly embodies what a netbook is; a very cheap, very portable, very robust notebook computer.

Also .. this article makes no mention of the "standard batteries" .. seeing that the "core function" of a netbook is to be ultra portable .. the batery life or battery cell number sold as standard, has a potentially massive impact on the usability on a netbook.

Running Office USB edition on mine. Try to minimise performance issues. The combo works like a dream - thinstall is the way to go I reckon

try the NEW acer 1810 T -updated version of acer one - has windows 7;intel core 2 duo processor - 320gb harddrive; 4gb ram ; up to 8 hours battery life;11.6 inch screen ;weighs 1.4kg - fantastic machine

i have worked on the acer aspire one for quiet some time nd i must say im im impressed.i could compare the perfomance with my hp 6730b nd they almost identical (processing speed). Dell looks good spec wise but perfomance is dissapointing.

Extremely impressed! I didn't get the bluetooth / 3GB add-ons.
I simply connected it via usb to my E71 and use that 4 access when I'm not near wifi.
I've added another 1GB of RAM, my battery life increased by 30min. I now run about 7 hours without power!

Not to bad for R2500 x VAT.
