2010 LOC falling apart

Do you think we will be ready for it then?

Stadiums built, enough public transport, crime under control, enough accommodation etc.?

I been thinking fr a while now that this is going to be the first world cup where people die. I mean we as residents of this country know what to do and what to look for. now you gonna get some greek dude who can barely speak english getting into a taxi with his 2000 euro camera and guess what? he aint gonna end up at his hotel, hes gonna end up in kwamashu or somewhere with his throat slit and his camera awol.

im planning on getting the hell out before the swc for the entire duration. safer that way.

Unfortunately, i have to agree with you.

I believe that as with any major event of this magnitude, there will be minor hiccups which are acceptable. I do believe on the whole that we will be more than ready, but I worry about crime - it is my only concern! Anyone who states that they are not worried about crime for 2010 is living in a cocoon outside of Africa.

The problem with overseas visitors are that they are not streetwise.

Is there somebody out there to educate them,as to the dangers of life in South Africa?

Govt will probably put together a safety package for them when they enter the airport. It will be very toned down but remember, these visitors will rely on the general public to keep them safe or at least educated about the realities. The only reason germany wc was so successful was because their citizens backed it 100% and knew it would be a great opportunity for their country. It was a proud moment for them, as it should be for us, and we should be prepared to put in 110% to help where we can during that time.

I think it will be a memorable experience and something we will cherish having been a part of if we want to. Otherwise, it will merely be another a slap in the face to those who keep rubbishing it!

Reminds me of a Zoo...We are the "keepers" so to speak and must protect the visitors against any "escaped" animals...

Just imagine what negative reaction we will receive when a few visitors gets murdered for their cameras, cellphones or smallchange.

Tourism to South Africa will rapidly decline in the years following this event.

Something I find stupid is when people wish this country fails in everything they do, forgetting that they also live in it. It's almost like wishing the ship to sink in the deep sea, while they are on board (unless if they can swim - but the sharks will eat them).

I do not wish for this event to fail.
I would like it to be a success.
I also wouldn't want any tourist killed whilst visiting the country.

Tjo, Listening to Redi on 702. Shocking that Irvin Khoza, at a press conference, told a reporter "stop thinking like a k****r because you are misleading and contriving things".

Khoza is an embarrassment!

It's a question of the pot calling the kettle black.........

I dont' understand why people really bother... if you gonna leave the country... just do so... stop threatning to do.. just go... period. I'm getting a little tired of people moaning about this that and the other as if this is only unique to South Africa.

:mad::mad:

You will never understand that. Just leave them alone!
