"2010 safe from crime"

Too many assumptions.

Too many negatives.

Too many people with their heads in the clouds.

Leave the west out of the whole 2010 thing, they are involved already (FIFA, the fans, the teams).

And to our dear Minister Charles Nqakula, a bomb threat is not really classified as crime (Although it is a crime), it's classified along the lines of terrorism ....

Last but not least, there's only 3 years left to 2010 and crime levels are going to impact on this event if something is not done about it.

Can't wait for Shaka to post that the WC is from the West and therefore evil. 2010 will open the eyes of the world, for better or for worse. Either way, rofl at chief.

Criminals pay tax too. If at least 1/4 of visiting soccer fans can be robbed, then SA will gain a LOT of foreign exchange and tax revenue. Way to go! :) Viva Peoples' Tax collectors, Viva! :)

There is no way that the SA law enforcement will be able to protect against any terrorist attacks in SA. Imagine a stadium full of British or US fans. It will be a target for these nut terrorists. Heck I doubt they'll be able to protect
against rowdy taxi drivers alone.

Water is free where I live apparently. The reservoir close to my place has been springing massive leaks that flood the street for almost 2 months.

Then it's your duty as a citizen to organise a committee to determine how best to assist the government in fixing this leak, then fix it already! The government isn't here only to do things for you! You must get involved too, in the service delivery! Come on...........

:) Haha.

Do not be ridiculous. The World Cup will never be removed from SA. It will be hosted by us in 2010 and we will be proud. It will be the best World Cup ever. SA will rise to show the world that Africans can plan, action, achieve and over-achieve above expectations. And all without any help from the West.

I assume then that the stadiums will not be built using western construction methods, with western design tools (computers, software) and with western equipment?

You know what I would be rather proud of? I'd be proud more my friends and family could feel safe in their country, if they were protected by the government, if the emergency services weren't in such a poor shape, if the authorities were more accountable to the citizens who elected them, if we could bring down the rates of HIV/AIDS infection and child abuse, if people
were not swindled by free government houses which fall apart after one year etc.

Those things would make me MORE proud than a football world cup. Then again, some people have different priorities.

I'd be happy to, if I could stop paying taxes. :D:p A lot of people are effectively pretty involved in service delivery anyway out of necessity. Lets see, private education, private healthcare, private security etc.

I don't think I will pay taxes for the year before I leave the country, once I have that international passport RSA can call me a criminal but why would I pay for say protection from actual criminals, if my taxes does not protect me. 40% savings for a whole year. :)
