2011 Super Rugby (Super 15) thread

Lions flank Michael Rhodes has been suspended from all rugby until July 31 after being found guilty of using a "dangerous headlock" to pull Highlanders wing Siale Piutau out of a ruck in their 26-22 Vodacom Super Rugby victory in Dunedin on Saturday.
Rhodes was punched in the head twice by Piutau in retaliation. The Highlanders wing was also cited for the punches though he was cleared after a disciplinary hearing, governing body SANZAR said on Tuesday.

So no punishment for retaliation from Siale? Just confirming the bias yet again of SANZAR

I completely agree and what Piutau did also deserved a ban. SANZAR only set a precedent now with this. Because every player will plead "extreme circumstances" for future cases of retaliation

But I would do excatly the same if somebody try and break my neck like that.

EDIT: Just to get the facts right. Piutau was NOT cleared.
He was in fact found guilty and he actually pleaded guilty to the charges. But he was not suspended due the the extreme circumstances that led to the punches.

My favourite ref must be Dickinsome - he is equally unfair to all teams, if he is unfair at all. I like this story. Crusaders more often than not are on the lucky side of 50/50 decisions and McCaw especially gets away with lots. So, to see Dickey hand the Reds the game more than warmed my heart.

Deysel out for 2 for being SA.

Jacques_louis Potgieter must be looking for a new franchise already.

Fredrick Michalak is back at the Sharks

To be honest if someone nearly ripped my head off at a ruck I would deck him too. We have come to expect this with the sitings commissions every year. All I can say karma is a bitch.

Stormers up 3-0 after three minutes, hopefully that easy kick relaxes Coleman a bit.

Massive win that. From the blow by blow scoring it seems like Kurt had a good game. Will check out the replay later. This can only be good for his confidence, even if he is our fifth choice.

Much better game by the youngster, mainly because they decided to pass to him! Had a few good breaks as well...

Hard fought win by the Bulls....

/still want to see more evidence of the head butt for which the 'Tahs' player was red carded...

Bulls got this one but one can see the season taking its toll on the players.

Having uncontested scrums sucked. Bulls have tough road ahead with Stormers and Sharks still to play.

Man the whole new format is a load of crocking SH*T! EVERYTHING sucks about it. Playing local teams more, not once but twice. Hardly ever playing other teams from oz and nz -wtf? Season too long - self explanatory. This comp has turned into watered down rubbish. Bring back the *****ing super 14! You get points when on a bye? - wtf again. From new jerseys to rules its all too stinky for my liking.

I agree... S15 is heavily favouring an Aus team or two.

I have a question. Although its highely unlikely, what if the top 6 teams consisted of 3 SA teams and 3 NZ teams, and the top Aus team in 7th.Would the Aus team automatically go 3rd and knock the 6th placed team out? From what i took from the rules the top team in each division make up the top 3,so Even though the 6th team would be ahead of the 1st Aus team on points they still wouldn't qualify. Just a thought :)
