2011 Super Rugby (Super 15) thread

The Bulls need a new bloody gameplan, thats what they need! When did they score tries again? Oh yeah, when they never kicked the ball away, when they held on and went forward. Still though, the bulls are not playing clever rugby, but they are powerful. They need to play more tactically, then then again, this is a Pretoria based side. It's how they've learned to play.

Bulls vs Force playing round about 18 minutes 1st half.

Zane Kirchner got spear tackled and the ****ing Aussie commentator moans that it is not a spear tackle because Zane landed on his back. I never wanted more than to be able to reach into the TV and give that commentator a bitch-slap.

The action was clearly a spear tackle and the Force player deservedly got his yellow card.

While I am not a Bulls supporter, I do not enjoy watching any SA team losing to an Aussie or Kiwi side.

The Bulls made some really elementary mistakes and one has to wonder if everything is OK in the Bulls' camp.

I still think that their midfield is weak and the backline lacks flair and the ability to create any gaps. They don't run straight enough and make it easy for their opposition to defend as they shepherd them to the touchline and put distance between the ball and the supporting Bulls' forwards.

Come on Bulls!!

One of the biggest problems with the Bulls:
They are not playing as a team but rather a group of individuals.

Victor Matfield almost always in the backline and not in the rucks.
Wynand Olivier just refuses to pass the ball and goes dead time after time.
Sad to see a player of Pierre Spies' size and talent just floating around and making no impact.
Kirchner and Steyn are just too predictable. Everybody knows they are going to kick it away.
Bjorn Basson really tried today. As did Dean Greyling and I think Chiliboy did some good work before being replaced.
And of course Matfield and Du Preez always busy telling the ref how to officiate instead of just playing the game

Wallabies wing Drew Mitchell’s World Cup hopes are over after he dislocated his ankle and broke a bone in his right leg in the New South Wales Waratahs’s Super rugby defeat by the Queensland Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.

The 27 year-old fell awkwardly after running into the back of Reds loose forward Scott Higginbotham while chasing a kick in the 19th minute.

Mitchell screamed out with pain and television replays showed his foot at an unnatural angle. He was immediately taken off the field by stretcher.

“He’ll be gone for the year,” Waratahs coach Chris Hickey told Australian Associated Press after his team’s 19-15 defeat. “It’s a pretty significant injury.”

Captain Phil Waugh said the incident shook all the players.

“I think it rattled anyone who saw it,” he said. “It was disappointing – you don’t want to see that happen to anyone in the world in any sport.”

Me neither. As much as I exclaim "Aussie bastard" at every oppertunity, it still is their bread and butter too.

Agreed. Was not good to watch. I blame Higginbotham as you could see how he deliberately blocked off Mitchell by stepping into his path.

How many points has Pat Lambie thrown away today?

They're playing better now.

Really holding thumbs tight for the Lions. So close. Oh so close.

Pic of Drew Mitchell in agonising pain after snapping his ankle against the Reds. No wonder he squealed like a pig, his foot is pointing in the wrong direction there.
Really hoping for a full recovery as he is a very exciting player.
