2015 UK Election Thread

Want 100? Go to Google, select "news" and search for "labour rules out SNP coalition". This was all over the news, even outside the UK.

Labour will have to go into an agreement with the mad hatters. Lib Dems wont have enough seats to form a coalition with Labour. What a ridiculous situatiom that 4% of the population will have such a big say.

My brother just voted!

Agree, it's an absolute shambles. Labour teaming up with SNP would be long term suicide though; everyone knows it. The bookies even have Labour/SNP coalition at 11/1.

SNP... ;). Scotland would be hopelessly bankrupt if they had voted for independence as their assumptions relied on a oil price of 110 dollars per barrel.

The UKIP manifesto is the only that has been fully costed by auditors. And their three main policies - Australian points immigration system, leaving the EU and slashing the international aid budget are all extremely reasonable.

Watch UKIP get second place in large swathes of northern England, where many people now realise that Labour do not represent the working class. Labour's love of everything non-white/Western is so transparent. God, just look at the Labour leader. Son of a millionaire Marxist.

If you dig a bit deeper you can see they're a one trick pony. They are under the assumption that the UK will become part of EFTA (like Norway, Switzerland etc). But those countries are obliged to allow free movement, which immediately blows the UKIP's entire immigration plan out the window.

And UKIP's hatred of everything non white/western is even more concerning. With the number of candidates thrown out for saying the "wrong thing", it seems more likely that they are saying the the "right thing".....just at the "wrong time"

And a lot of Business leaders have already said that leaving the EU will be bad for UK

What's so new about that? Most of the leading commies, liberals and socialists are upper class people from wealthy homes. Workers on the ground are often unlike the elites which speak for them.

UKIP in a way seems to be a mild socialist version of National Socialism, at the end a left wing party like the NSDAP.

Not so sure if that's true. It could be FUD. The only real blow Berlin could deliver to London would be to offload all that financial business London handles. The way China no longer needs HK and SG.

As Friedman said, if London decides to cut the EU umbilical cord, they'll have to gravitate closer to America. There is no British Empire anymore so perhaps more neocon adventures - who knows.

Debatable. But the point is moot: if a referendum is offered current polls show people massively in favour of staying anyway.

However, the structure of the EU may have to change (e.g. become a political union), in which case the UK would definitely vote to leave.

No, they don't seem like national socialism in the slightest. You're just playing devils advocate. You have personally complained about how they have been painted as Fascists and Nazis before on these very forums.

They are more libertarian than any party in Britain, and I wouldn't refer to them as nationalist at all, they are an independence movement. They don't plan to nationalize a God damned thing. They would privatize everything if they could, and sell what's left of Britain to the rest of the world. They dampened that rhetoric when it was found that Brits fkn hate that idea.

UKIP just have a hard on for social conservatism, traditionalism, the free market, and the "Anglosphere". That's why you like them.

No. They're for the working classes who are the people worried about competition from immigrants. They're nationalistic, "UK"'s independence from EU and so on. A mild NSDAP. As opposed to more international socialist movements which were also pro-labour before issues such as racism came along.

Nationalism is not about nationalising stuff little boy.

Here is what one voter said: "Main reasons are ...... EU, Immigration, Child Abuse, Pensions, NHS, Armed Forces, Education, Jobs, Foreign Aid, Corruption and Tory/Labour lies."

These are more working class concerns. Your British lawyer, doctor, engineer, accountant and so on, has less issues with many of these things - jobs? immigration? pensions? NHS? Education? Foreign aid? Corruption? If you're working class you depend on the NHS, you're competing against immigrants, you're on a state pension, you depend on state education and so on.

UKIP just have a hard on for social conservatism, traditionalism, the free market, and the "Anglosphere". That's why you like them.

Rubbish.

Wondering how well the SNP will do and if there is a shot of another Indy Ref again?

They have stated another referendum is not part of their manifesto unless something major happens (UK leaving EU for example).
