2015 VW Passat B8

Volkswagen South Africa is now offering a turbodiesel engine for the Passat sedan and the range has also been updated to include additional standard features.
:p Yes, the kind that significantly "improves" fuel efficiency during tests.

This is very nitpicky of me but I cannot stand the volume knob on the newer VW models.

The fact that the power symbol turns with the volume knob would drive the OCD-sufferer in me nuts. Why not make the centre of the knob solid and immobile and have the outer 'ring' turn instead? Gawd this really irritates me...maybe I should go rant over on the Things That Irritate You thread

TBH if I ever had a stroke and bought a VW I would probably attack the painted on power symbol with acetone and get it over with

/rant off

I'm glad I'm not the only one :D

Just turn it to where you want it... and then never touch it again. There is a button on the steering wheel you know.

But now you see with my luck it would 'click' into place off-centre which would drive me even more insane. Like a Swiss watch that doesn't have the second hand lined up with the second notches precisely. I'd rather just rub the symbol off and be done with it.

A VW reviewed by car magazine "top of the class". Surprise. Surprise.

Have you ever driven a Passat?

Yes I have driven. Great car. That's irrelevant though. My point was on my perception of Car magazine, which certain others do share as well. Still a good mag though.

Oh, I used to share it as well... They were extremely Toyota biased under Hannes. Haven't opened one in years, but Steve Smith seemed to change things. You cannot however blame them for pointing out that the Passat is best in class, when it is actually the best in class. What were the supposed to say? That the Fusion is the best in class, or maybe the Sonata? The Accord is not even sold here anymore and neither is the Optima. Maybe under Peugeot, Opel will try to bring the new Insignia here, but I doubt it will be as good as the Passat.
