2015 VW Passat B8

All things considered, i think I'd take "the long GTi" (2.0 TSI Passat) over the Golf... about the same price, better features.

Then Revo Stage 1: around 180wkw & over 400nm. Would be a proper sleeper

+1

You want it cheaper?
I actually think its perfectly priced.

And let's not forget VW's fantastic resale value.

:erm: who cares, the people buying this are all like....

Right in the first sentence they sum up everything that is wrong with the car. "VW’s aim with the new Passat is to take on the big three, especially Mercedes-Benz."

You morons, you already have a ton of boring Audi models that do just that! The Passat should be a large, affordable and reliable family car - not a small executive saloon. That is actually what is wrong with the entire VW range except for the Up! they are no longer people's cars.

I expect the new Insignia will win over some Passat buyers in Europe for that reason.

It is actually bigger than the 3-series, C class and A4. It is a long car, with a massive boot and lots of space at the back. It is more in line with the 5, E, A6... This makes it a huge bargain.

If priced right, then yes. However if you aim for luxury cars like the C-Class and 3-Series I expect they will have similar pricing.

Did you read what I said? It is more of a cheaper competitor for the next class up. Jetta would be the cheap competitor for C, 3, A4...

Also, because of depreciation, a year old demo Passat will cost about the same as a year old demo Jetta. This makes it probably the best bargain out there and cheaper than a higher mileage 2-3 year old 320i or C180.

Yeah I got that part and from the review it does sound like a pretty roomy cabin. However it remains to be seen if the general car buying public will 1) pick up on that and 2) be persuaded to buy it over a slightly smaller car perceived to be more up market. Depreciation has always been good on these cars but still you see very little of them on the roads.

Can' t wait to see the updated VW CC, should be based on the B8 Passat's goodies.

Guys I saw one yesterday by N1 City side.

I would say it was the mid line 1.8 model.

Quite a good looking machine by typical Passat-bland standards

The rear has always been and is still a letdown. Very nice otherwise
