I've actually had this discussion with Roux before. I referred him to the A5 and A7 Sportbacks. He conceded, yet here he is, arguing the same thing again. I don't know what he's smoking, but besides his weird outlook on life, it also seems to be affecting his short term memory.

Your Sportback argument rings true for one model... The A3. Which is a hatch already, so it ended up as something slightly resembling a stationwagon/avant. All other Sportback models are not even close to stationwagons. Now go away, as we've had this discussion before...

The new Passat comes standard with a three-year or 120 000km manufacturer warranty and five- year or 100 000km Automotion Maintenance Plan. All models have a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty and 15 000km service intervals.

Unlike the B7 Gen locally we now get a flagship model again; fitted with the G7 GTI motor.

The Volkswagen’s Active Info Display, the VW-version of Audi's Virtual Cockpit will be available as an option from early next year. R22k option...ouch...

Yeah I like this.
Went for an Uber in a fancy B7 one over the seas recently. Had those tan leather seats. Felt incredibly upmarket - perceived quality was superb.

Wow, never thought I would say this but this car is a proper looker, albeit in a "sleeper" kind of way.

There is apparently a 180kw or 176kw diesel version available overseas, I would love to have that in the 4motion version! :)

Yup 240bhp 2L twin turbo diesel in key markets. SA looking to get the normal 130kw 2L #dieselgate model early next yr. Would be good if the 240bhp top model makes it here as well.
 
Front and interior look great. Pitty about the arse though.
All things considered it looks well priced.
