knowing our market it gonna come here without carplay, some naturally aspirated half-dead engine and the touch-screen infotainment display changed to a 4" dot-matrix from Nokia in the 90's...

Most likely. But I am hopeful that Hyundai SA will start feeling the pressure from the rivals and start introducing the forced induction models with infotainment systems from this era

Yeah. its not just Hyundai though. I remember seeing a manufacturers comment in CAR that "the vehicle specification will be adjusted for the South African market"

Like we're some kind of backward buffoons who don't want color screens, turbo-charged engines and new up-to-date software and features. It makes my blood boil...
 
Hyundai have always made good cars. i just found them a bit bland for my liking, they did not have the character of Renault's. however, they're looking awesome if i check out the i30 pics above.

i just hope Hyundai SA doesnt rip out all the niceties and try charge us for it having airbags ...
 
They've become pricey though. When I bought my Elantra in 2012 I did so because it was a good deal compared to the Focus Sedan (60k difference for more features IIRC). Nowadays though...

Yeah same with Kia. Very happy with my Cerato still but now days they are so many other options in the price range.
 
It will be expensive here guys. Its priced even high in the UK.

Hyundai i30 1.4 T-GDi Premium = £22,195 (around R363k).

One comment:

Price point and looks outdated already
£22,200 ouch, yes it has leather (the rest is just bling or the competition has it too) but that's nearing Golf, A3 territory and passes a top of the range Astra with full heated leather, MUCH faster 1.4T Elite Nav for £21,000 some £1,200 less.

Leather is like R8000. Not the most expensive "extra" out there.

That price you quoted - that's before import duties. I reckon it'll be closer to R410k

No **** it's before duties. I was just pointing out it's rather pricey even in the UK. There are stronger rivals that are priced more keenly.

By extension it going to be pretty much close to bonkers pricing once it lands in Mzanzi in a few months time.
