Update: Hyundai i30 N Power Revealed
Power figures for the forthcoming Hyundai i30 N have surfaced online! Take a look at what we know...
A while back we posted pictures of Hyundai's forthcoming i30 N undergoing testing. While those photos didn't give away much in terms of what the new vehicle will look like, Hyundai has assured us that it will have the show to match the go. But more recently it also released images of the brand new i30, due for its international reveal soon. You can view those images here.
Our spy photographer has caught what appears to be the real thing – the "N" version of the all-new i30. Reports indicate that the i30 N will offer 186 kW from its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. A performance package will see power rise to 205 kW. A 6-speed manual transmission will be offered initially with a dual-clutch 8-speed automatic transmission expected later. The i30 N will also feature the company’s first electronically controlled mechanical limited-slip differential.
Those outputs put it squarely in the middle of a fiercely contested segment that features the likes of the of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Ford Focus ST and Renault Megane RS, and it will be interesting to see how the newcomer fares.

Hyundai’s first N-series hot hatch is well on its way. And now, according to CarAdvice.com, the Korean automaker has inadvertently revealed some key information about the upcoming i30 N.
According to presentation slides seen by the Australian publication, the i30 N will use a turbocharged 2,0-litre engine that will be available in two power outputs. The first will make 186 kW, while the range-topper will churn out a healthy 205 kW. A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard on both models at launch, while an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission will reportedly arrive later as an option.
According to the report, the higher-output i30 N will also benefit from an electronic limited-slip differential and a firmer track-tuned suspension.
The i30 N is expected to feature all the styling features one might expect from a hot hatch, including side-skirts, a rear spoiler, quad exhausts, a rear diffuser and large alloy wheels. The interior will add a set of sports seats and a steering wheel featuring a drive mode select button.

I really hope they pull this one off. I hear they are planning n i30-based fastback model as well sometime in 2018.

2017 Hyundai i30 Wagon revealed ahead of Geneva
Estate version of Hyundai’s five-door hatch comes with a choice of three petrol and one diesel engine
The 2017 Hyundai i30 Wagon will make its debut at the Geneva motor show next month.
The estate version of Hyundai’s five-door i30 is a rival to the Ford Focus estate and Volkswagen Golf estate. It enters the market with one of the most spacious cabins in its class.
Practicality
With the rear seats up, it can swallow 602 litres of luggage and with them down that number grows to 1650 litres. This beats the Focus and Golf estates by 134 and 30 litres respectively. It’s also 309 litres more than the five-door hatch offers.
The i30 Wagon has been designed with a slanting roof to create a coupé-like silhouette. The car’s nose remains unchanged from its hatch sibling but the rear, which extends back an extra 245mm, gets a slightly different design with the number plate located on the tailgate as opposed to the bumper.
Inside, the dashboard and seats are identical to the hatch, meaning there’s either a 5in or 8in touchscreen, which comes available with Apple Carplay, Android Auto connectivity, as well as optional wireless charging for smartphones and Bluetooth.
Engines
Powering the estate will be a choice of four turbocharged engines. The entry unit is a 1.0-litre T-GDI three-cylinder petrol that produces 118bhp and above this is a 1.4-litre four-pot that produces 138bhp.
The diesel line-up consists of three versions of the same 1.6-litre unit that produce 94bhp, 108bhp or 131bhp.
Technology
Hyundai claims that the i30 Wagon comes with the most driver assist safety programmes in its class. It gets adaptive cruise control that can brake or accelerate the vehicle at speeds of up to 112mph, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist technology.
There’s also rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection and Hyundai’s first driver attention monitoring system, which alerts the driver to take a break if lane crossing is noticed.
Cars with optional full LED headlights get high beam assist technology to dip and raise beams around oncoming traffic too.
The i30 Wagon’s structure is more rigid due to 53% of it being made of advanced high-strength steel. Hyundai has sharpened the new i30’s steering by 10% in a bid to make the car more responsive, and the car’s development was focused in Europe with high-speed testing taking place on the Nürburgring.
Price and on sale date
Sales for the i30 five-door hatch kick-off in March. The Wagon will likely follow later in the year, with prices expected to start close to £2000 higher than the hatch, which will sell from £16,995.

The Hyundai i30 Fastback will go head to head with the Audi A3 Sportback and Seat Toledo when it's launched at the start of 2018.
It will be the third i30 variant, joining the hatcback and estate, slotting between the two in the model line-up in terms of both pricing and interior space.
First sightings of a development car show that the Fastback is essentially the same as the hatchback at the front, but has a more gradually sloping roofline and a longer rear overhang.
Heavy cladding covers the car’s tail-lights, but it looks as though the design is the same as that of the hatchback and estate.
