2026 Tata Aeris iCNG Review - Team-BHP
Tata Aeris iCNG Pros
• Superbly priced for what it offers; undercuts its direct competitors
• A well-calibrated CNG system that’s comfortable to drive
• CNG option with factory-backing, factory warranty & OEM standards of safety / quality
• CNG benefits like cheap running costs and lower CO2 emissions, coupled with the convenience of an AMT
• Usable boot space, even with the CNG tanks (twin cylinder system)
• Smart looks matched to a solid build. Many interesting colours available too
• Good-quality, nicely designed cabin
• City-friendly nature: light controls, agreeable ergonomics & decent driveability (in CNG too)
• Mature on-road behaviour, including at highway speeds
• Available in the top variant, unlike some other CNG models
• Features such as keyless entry & go, cruise control, ventilated seats, 10.25-inch touchscreen head-unit, paddle-shifters for the AMT variants, wireless charging, climate control, cooled glovebox, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car features, auto LED headlamps and tail-lamps, rain-sensing wipers and more
• Safety kit includes 6 airbags, ESP + ABS + EBD + CSC, 3-point seatbelts for all, ISOFIX child seat mounts, dashcam recorder, 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, hill hold, iTPMS, etc.
Tata Aeris iCNG Cons
• Reduced power output is evident on the highway. CNG mode has weak top-end performance
• Many Indian cities & towns don’t have CNG pumps. Plus, the queue for a CNG fill-up can be long in metro cities
• Higher maintenance costs & upkeep (overall) in comparison with the regular petrol variant
• When driven hard, the AMT can't match the smoothness & shift-times of a conventional automatic. Gets confused on climbs as well
• Dead pedal is not suitable for people with large feet
• Engine noise gets disturbing at higher rpms - starts getting harsh & loud near the redline
• Poor fit & finish levels. There is no comparison to the Japanese and Korean competitors
• Rear seat is suitable for 2 adults, not 3
• All passengers need to get out of the vehicle while refilling CNG
• No alloy wheels offered with the Aeris CNG (however, petrol variant gets them)
• Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble
