Tata Motors has filed a design patent for the Tigor facelift. The patent image, which is available on the government’s official website, provides the first glimpse of the changes made to the exterior.

The Tigor facelift is set to receive several cosmetic changes. The car has a slim front fascia with reprofiled LED headlamps on either side. The front bumper has been reworked and houses the grille flanked by a set of fog lamps. The car will also get new alloy wheels.

Inside, the compact sedan could get a new dashboard similar to the 2026 Tiago, with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a new 2-spoke steering wheel.

The car is also expected to get new features like auto-folding ORVMs, a wireless charger, rear AC vents, and a 360-degree camera.

The updated version of the Tigor will be powered by the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as before, paired with either a 5-speed manual or AMT. A CNG version will also be on offer.

The Tigor EV will also receive similar cosmetic and feature updates.

New Tata Aeris sedan to replace Tigor - Team-BHP

The sedan will be called the ‘Tata Aeris’. The Aeris will effectively replace the Tigor in Tata’s lineup. It also suggests that - just like the Tiago.ev - an all-electric Aeris.ev is likely to be on the cards sooner or later.

The Aeris will borrow design cues from the Tiago. Up front, the drawings point towards a slim grille, a sleek bumper, and low-set fog lamps. The large headlamps are likely to feature full LED lighting, along with LED daytime running lamps.

From the rear, a connected LED tail lamp setup will take centre stage. A sharp bumper with vertical reflectors and large ‘A E R I S’ badging rounds things off at the rear.

Under the hood, the Aeris will feature a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an optional factory-fitted dual-cylinder CNG kit on offer. Manual and AMT gearbox options are expected as well.

With the Tata Aeris confirmed for launch on September 25, Tata has released another teaser highlighting a few product details.

The Tigor successor appears again in what will likely be its signature purple colour, though Tata has yet to reveal an official name for the shade.

From the short clip and previous teasers, the new Aeris is set to receive multiple design updates over the outgoing car.

The front end appears to have gotten a substantial redesign. In addition to the new sleeker LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, the Aeris appears to have a redesigned front bumper, housing a larger lower air dam and dual-LED fog lamps.

The rear appears to have the Aeris badging stretched under the Tata logo on the tailgate, in line with current styling trends in the industry, with revised LED tail lamps sporting a sharper signature than the outgoing car.

The rear bumper appears revised too, and the boot lid gets some character lines for a sleeker look. A new alloy-wheel design also makes a short appearance.

In the cabin, the Aeris is expected to receive an overhaul from the Tigor to be more in line with Tata’s latest models. Amongst expected changes are a redesigned dashboard, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a revised digital driver display, an updated steering wheel and centre console layout.

The Aeris is expected to carry forward existing powertrain options, with petrol, CNG and electric variants likely to be available. Whether the electric powertrain receives any specification updates w.r.t. battery pack size and output remains to be seen.

Tata Aeris Review: This Is REALLY Good… - ZigWheels

The Sub-4 metre sedan segment is an interesting one. While these are fantastic cars — comfortable and spacious, what amazes me is that their aura and desirability has become limited largely to fleet operators. That might be the reason why Tata has reinvented its sub-4 sedan contender and it's now called the Aeris.

Is this makeover big enough to help it reconnect with prospect buyers?

• City-friendly nature: light controls, agreeable ergonomics & decent driveability (in CNG too)
• Mature on-road behaviour, including at highway speeds
• Available in the top variant, unlike some other CNG models

Tata Aeris iCNG Cons

• Reduced power output is evident on the highway. CNG mode has weak top-end performance
• Many Indian cities & towns don’t have CNG pumps. Plus, the queue for a CNG fill-up can be long in metro cities
• Higher maintenance costs & upkeep (overall) in comparison with the regular petrol variant
• When driven hard, the AMT can't match the smoothness & shift-times of a conventional automatic. Gets confused on climbs as well
• Dead pedal is not suitable for people with large feet
• Engine noise gets disturbing at higher rpms - starts getting harsh & loud near the redline
• Poor fit & finish levels. There is no comparison to the Japanese and Korean competitors
• Rear seat is suitable for 2 adults, not 3
• All passengers need to get out of the vehicle while refilling CNG
• No alloy wheels offered with the Aeris CNG (however, petrol variant gets them)
• Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble
