Had a poke in and around one in Paris yesterday. Nice enough place to be, no idea how it'll ride. Could definitely see myself owning a hybrid one here in Europe, with something more "petrolhead" for the weekends.

Toyota’s radical-looking C-HR crossover is due here in March, slotting just beneath the Rav4 with provisional pricing in the R320 000 to R350 000 range. Power comes from Toyota’s new 1.2-litre turbopetrol engine, pushing 84kW and 185Nm and mated to either a manual or CVT transmission, powering the front wheels

HERE’S HOW MUCH THE NEW TOYOTA C-HR COSTS IN SA…
The new Toyota C-HR is set to launch in South Africa this week, and we’ve managed to source pricing for the three-model range.
The figures are largely in line with the predicted pricing Toyota shared on the international launch (read our first driving impression here).
Each of the three derivatives in the local line-up is powered by a turbocharged 1,2-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit. This mill – which is the first turbopetrol in Toyota SA’s local line-up – provides the front wheels with 85 kW and 185 N.m. The latter figure is on tap from 1 500 to 4 000 r/min, while the claimed 0-100 km/h time is 10,9 seconds.
The boldly styled light crossover measures 4 360 mm long, 1 795 mm wide and 1 555 mm high, which makes it around the size of a Nissan Qashqai.
The base C-HR comes in at R318 500 (undercutting the entry-level Nissan Qashqai 1,2T Visia by some R7 400), while the mid-range “Plus” variant – which also employs a six-speed manual transmission, but adds some extra equipment, such as cruise control, foglamps and dual-zone climate control – is priced at R345 000. Both sip at a claimed 6,3 L/100 km.
The range-topping model (R356 000) features the same trim level, but swaps the manual gearbox for a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Claimed economy comes in at 6,4 L/100 km.
In some markets, a 1,8-litre hybrid powertrain (lifted from the Prius) is also offered, but – initially, at least – this does not appear to be on the cards for South Africa.

R320 000 is a lot for an 85kW motor. And is it just me or does it look like Toyota head-hunted some of Hyundai's designers for that?
