I don't know about that, my wife's up is currently at 140k + km's sitting in really crap traffic daily without issues, even my old passat got traded in at 164k km with no clutch issues, and the dsg was known to have issues. This car must have had some serious abuse. Unless the kilometers is very high, they don't mention that.

If by serious abuse you refer to riding the clutch, then yes, I see people doing that quiet a lot these days.

Following the 2021 introduction of the facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan, VWSA is now launching the larger Allspace model in South Africa, which will be available in dealerships from April.

Pricing for the new Tiguan Allspace has been released, and VWSA is offering a simplified range complete with a new grade structure. The entry-level 1.4 TSI Life DSG model starts at R671 700, and from there you can upgrade to a 1.4 TSI R-Line for R719 700 or a 2.0 4Motion TSI Style for R726 000. Topping the range is the 2.0 TSI R-Line at R798 000.

The Allspace gets a similar facelift to the regular Tiguan models, with the most prominent design changes being at the front. Inside the design remains familiar, but Volkswagen is offering fresh infotainment systems and new driver assistance tech.

Fitted as standard is an 8.0-inch Composition Media touchscreen audio system with voice control, but buyers can option up to the 9.2-inch Discover Pro system with navigation and wireless App Connect.

Updated Tiguan Allspace arrives in SA – here’s the pricing

April will see the local introduction of the updated Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and VWSA has released pricing for the seven-seater T SUV.

Forming one of the four pillars of VW’s T SUV family – T-Cross, T-Roc, Tiguan and Touareg – the Tiguan Allspace has sold more than 1,7 million units globally since its global launch in 2017. Locally, over 7 000 of these vehicles have been sold since its 2018 introduction.

Specification packages have been restructured, the naming and pricing of which are as follows:

– Life 1.4 TSI (110kW) DSG R671 700
– R-Line 1.4 TSI (110kW) DSG R719 700
– Style 2.0 TSI (132kW) 4MOTION DSG R726 000
– R-Line 2.0 TSI (162kW) 4MOTION DSG R798 000

The Tiguan Allspace comes standard with a 3 year/120 000km warranty, a 5 year/ 90 000 km Service Plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty with service intervals of 15 000 km.

Along with Volkswagen’s venerable Golf R hot hatch, the larger Tiguan R that shares a similar platform will also be welcomed to Mzanzi in little more than two months’ time.

Volkswagen South Africa confirmed that the anticipated fifth generation Golf R, using the eighth generation of the Golf platform, will land in South Africa by early October along with the Tiguan R. Both models make use of similar tech and powertrains.

Same tech and powertrain just with a little bit less power than other markets

The EA888 2,0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor will find use in both models, although South African specifications will differ slightly from the rest of the international market. Steffen Knapp, Brand Director Volkswagen South Africa, cited poorer quality fuels as the 20 N.m detune from the models sold overseas.

Nonetheless, the all-wheel drive and highly acclaimed hot-hatch from Wolfsburg will put out 235 kW and 400 N.m which help propel it to a 250 km/h top speed. Its larger sibling includes the same top speed and performance although it will only sprint to 100 km/h in 5,1 seconds as opposed to 4,8 seconds.

2024 Volkswagen Tiguan gains friendlier face in design refresh

Prototype of the new SUV is spied testing with a completely new front end featuring sharper headlights

The Volkswagen Tiguan will receive a significant style overhaul next year, bringing the popular SUV in line with the design language of the smaller Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Polo.

Expected to launch in 2024, a prototype of the new Tiguan showed a completely new front end with sharper headlights, a much larger front grille and a redesigned front splitter.

Indicators have also been added to the Tiguan’s wing mirrors, while the SUV retains its distinctive three-spoke chrome detailing at the nose.

The rear end, meanwhile, largely resembles the existing Tiguan, save for bulkier bodywork.

The prototype was largely camouflaged with a black, line-obscuring livery, but it’s clear to see the new Tiguan will feature a wheelbase larger than the current car but still smaller than the seven-seater Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.

A visible exhaust muffler and rear quad exhaust decoys show that the Tiguan will retain internal-combustion power for this generation, before its inevitable switch to an electric powertrain.
