The XXV Olympic Winter Games, officially known as Milano Cortina 2026, are being held in northern Italy from 6 to 22 February 2026. They’re co-hosted by Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, marking the first time the Winter Games are officially split between two cities and the fourth time Italy has hosted the Olympics.
These Games feature 116 events across 8 sports, including traditional winter disciplines like alpine skiing, figure skating, snowboarding, ice hockey, and curling. A notable new addition is ski mountaineering making its Olympic debut.
The opening ceremony takes place at Milan’s iconic San Siro Stadium on 6 February, and competitions continue through 22 February. Events are spread across multiple Alpine clusters beyond the two main cities.

With the 2026 Winter Olympics a few weeks away, will you be watching? I'm sure the coverage from DSTV will be average at best.

I had a 1-day layover in Milan last weekend and the airport non-Euro citizen immigration queues were absolutely f*cked. God speed for the winter games.

WIll definately watch, think we have an Cross Country skier not sure if anyone else is competing from SA.

Yes, can't wait. Haven't missed a winter Olympics since 2006 I think. Hopefully it's on dstv live again.

Best events are speed skating, luge/skeleton/bobsleigh, snowboarding and even slower sports like cross country etc.

Speed skating is the best though.

Got a friendly reminder about this courtesy of our ICE friends in the US.

Will try watch where I can

Only a week away and still no word on whether it will be on Supersport. Haven't even seen a single ad.

SA will have 5 athletes at the Winter Olympics this year, the most we've ever had.

Thomas Weir (17), alpine skiing.

I wonder if SA will ever win a medal in the Winter Olympics lol.

I see curling round robin stage is starting this evening - my life is now complete :)

BTW, i checked the DSTV tv guide for the 7th and 8th Feb, dont see anything for the winter olympics, so dont think it will be shown

The Winter Olympics will air on SuperSport in South Africa on the Variety channels from 1 to 4, and Super Sport Action.

Maybe the TV guide is not updated, but i checked again on all the variety channels and dont see anything. (checking on the DSTV Stream app TV Guide)

They've done it before. No tv schedules at all until the day it actually starts. I'm sure it will be on dstv just like previous winter olympics.

Well I hope...

According to the official Olympics website, the broadcasters for SA (and Africa) are still to be confirmed. But hopefully SS is working on it.

How can we watch most of the 2026 Winter Olympics, here in South Africa? Will there be DSTV coverage? If not, any advice as to how and what to use? Is NordVPN okay and reliable? I love the Winter Olympics and it is very exciting.
