25% ADSL price cut

Ah!
I love this article.

He says international pricing is just one of the factors, yet they slash costs the day before seacom goes live!

I dont think many of us believe that fodder!
In the words of Shang Tsung from the Mortal Kombat movie.

"It has begun!"

All of i sudden im becoming an optimist.

Another step in the right direction. Does this account still have that weird ADSL login, or can you just plug username and password into the router?

Gatecrasher: it is a general username/password in the router and you still have the web page auth bit. That is the slight thing I don't like about it, especially on my phone where that is a schlep each time. I am still using them here and there though.
+1 for the step in the right direction G-Connect !!

Definitely a great move. Especially since they are the first one's doing it. I hope it gets them a lot of business.

Now lets hope everyone follows suite and prices plummet.

nice to see a little progress in the overall picture. not much, but hopefully the beginning of what is to come.

Guys, this is PREPAID bandwidth.
Works out to R49 per gig.
I'd say that this the the cheapest we have so far for PREPAID bandwidth.
FANTASTIC!

“That’s a 25% decrease over our previous normal rate,” says WirelessG CEO, Carel van der Merwe, “and a move that we believe will lead the charge in price reductions on local Internet access.”

Yes... ;)

“We have no doubt that our competitors will follow suit shortly,” van der Merwe says, “but the main challenge they will face in offering similar price reductions lies in the fact that we have not had to rely on Seacom’s impact."

Yes... :p

“The competitive pricing we were able to bring to bear on the market resulted from us automating the bandwidth provisioning and running of our service – and what customers are seeing now is the fine tuning of that model."

Yes!...

“We will undoubtedly be capable of bringing even more cost effective pricing to bear on the market the moment Seacom is part of the equation all related costs are known,” he says."

Yes!!... :D

“While the existence of this cable and service providers’ ability to buy access from a different provider will undoubtedly result in cost savings, we need to remember that International bandwidth is only part of the cost equation."

Yes!!!...

“I do think Seacom will have a positive impact on the market,” he says, “but it will not be the cure-all. For really amazing cost reductions, service providers will have to re-engineer their business processes and look for efficiencies they’re not currently exploiting."

YES!!!... :D

Wow Lightscribe...

If I were in sales I would be after your wallet...

Talk about a "yes-set"...

Though it is what we were hoping to see a while back and I am still hopeful...

I will be holding onto my money a little longer. Just to see who wants it the most...

G-Connect +1

Come on guys, lets stick to our word and support the first company to drive costs down!

Let the money talk now.

I signed up for an account with them this afternoon to see how easy it is to use. Did not add any credit to it as yet as I still have bandwidth left on my other accounts.

A sales rep just called me now, 20H30, to welcome me and ask me if there is anything they can do to make my experience more pleasant. Also informed me that their help desk is available 24x7 should I have any difficulty.

Must say first impression of this company is quite positive.

I also signed up to test their service and topped up with R50. I did not do much research beforehand but found that they do not clearly explain the fact that your adsl connection is via a web connection manager and you can apparently only have a single connection active on one account - waiting for confirmation if this is correct. In spite of these issues and based on my experience so far I think they have a nice product.

... you can apparently only have a single connection active on one account - waiting for confirmation if this is correct. ...

Yep, it is actually clearly spelled (spelt?) out in the "I'm stuck" section.
