Jeez Telkom average the worst!

Mind me asking what app is that you are using there?

Strange where I live we see "Telkom" spelled out under the options and I normally select that because the others result in it not connecting at all.

Even in fibre a video was struggling. (Edit although fibre speeds excellent so might be video site itself)

LTE still pathetic between 1 and 15mbps Hopefully once reconnected to external antenna, speed will be usable.

Did the following tests and was wondering if someone else can confirm my findings.

Telkom Band 1 3.77 Down and 0.17 up
Telkom Band 3 6.74 Down and 12.6 up
Telkom Band 20 10.7 Down and 0.22 up
Telkom Band 40 2.87 Down and 0.24 up
Telkom on Auto: 14.2 Down and 15.5 up

So what this is telling me is from 1:00 PM to essentially 11:00 PM I am not getting any work done because it is then when my net basically dies. I don't think a stronger router or antenna is going to solve this.

What do you think should I get a stronger router first then antenna or antenna first. It is my livelihood on the line so i don't mind spending the money it is just i am in for a very hard 2 months.

28 down 10 up on auto BUT past midnight so who cares!
Remember that an external antenna will change the B618's mode from 4x4 mimo to 2x2 mimo. In some cases it works better, but not always. For me personally, I tried the antenna, but it was better without.

Let us know how it works for you. Keen to see what the difference is.

I have a response you might not want.

If your lively hood depends on it you have two choices wait out the fix, I'm certain it will happen how long don't know.

Change providers.

I see the D-Link DWR-956 or D-Link DWR-M961 are both dual-band

Both the DWR-M961 and DWR-956 Support: Bands

- FDD LTE: B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20
- GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
- TDD LTE: B38/40

The M961 cost about R2.3k and the DWR-956 is about R1.6k [new]

Yea I also have a feeling they don't really care about clients they pushed these month to month and prepaid offers out as a total money grab. They have no intention to upgrade anything. I know this because I do a lot of local work in the area "for free" and many of the households I helped that had Telkom essentially gave it up after about 3 months.

The price is good but the service sucks and Cell C is is a total and complete lost cause they don't care about customers and cannot care less about any area outside the main cities. Same is true with Telkom.

In the end I am going to have to up my game and get fibre it is just going to happen because I cannot continue like this. I just hope fibre prices goes down and soon. But I doubt they care about anyone.

@myboradband:
You really should look into customer service especially round Telkom and Cell C Also look into the massive price difference in cost when it comes to Evotel, Metrofibre. They are darn near double the price when compared to openserve and vodacom fibre "true vodacom fibre not shared with metrofibre" Paying R700+ a month for something that should cost R500 or less is not good.

I know they state they are new and need pay the bills. But think about it logically if two clients pay them R500 each a month vs 1 client paying them R700 month they lose R300 a month. Cheaper means they can get more clients and honestly the infrastructure is there why not use it? Also ask them about load shedding and if they remain on on their side.

anyhow at this point I am putting the Telkom LTE to rest. I will use it because I have to not because I want to use it.

Antenna first as you might be able to get it free. Should be many here who have it just attached and unused or just lying around.

Cheaper option if you have to pay.

Thanks didn't know that. Without antenna, signal is green. Hopefully antenna pushes it to blue. But lets see.

Ordered from Geewiz the antenna convertors. So should reach me this week still.

Yeah also used the converter from them

Considering the massive number of "work from home" users from Telkom on Facebook it is safe to say I am not alone in this situation. But if a thousand+ complaints cannot show Telkom that a very serious problem exist i doubt that anything will get fixed.

For telmom there is no urgency, they don't care if we can lose our jobs, they don't care if we pay them money for service they don't provide.

Why don't they care?

Because they know that the we as clients can't do anything about it. They have the money to spend on court cases we do not. The Independent Communication Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has not done anything at all, all these years. NOT ONE THING.

So it is safe to say they can do whatever they want. The only way to change this is if South Africans brings a class action against ICASA for not doing their job and once that is successful then only will things start to change. But the people will have to put in the time to really communicate a step by step procedure and we will need legal companies to really drive it home. But because it is such a massive under taking and because it is hard to communicate to everyone in their areas this also cannot happen. So essentially all our providers can bring out "dead on arrival" products grab as much money as they want because no one can stop them.
