2TB Anytime data

Strange the phone doesn't ever manage to get more than 10mbps here. Really don't understand it. Full signal. Screenshot_20220515_214316.jpg

Everyone down? Lte just died before 8 but I see a massive spike on downdetector.co.za

Played around with the Band settings on my Huawei E5572 and it seems Telkom is only running B3 here. No signal if you select either B1 or B40. Could this be why speeds seem to go no higher than around 40 Mbs?

Yes, quite possible. Are you sure the E5572 does band 40?

Anyone else also having issues of blocked incoming ports on the unrestricted APN?

Hi all,

2 Stupid questions ( and sorry if in wrong thread ) - what is the unrestricted APN for Telkom and would I be able to use this on an Axxess Telkom SIM?

It's an APN that isn't CGNAT'ed and supposed to also have some ports open for incoming connections. The incoming connection part isn't working for me though.

Lol, thanks, I know what unrestricted means ;) Just didn't know the APN, but seems rather simple in the end...

The guy I borrowed the ZTE 286C from wanted to sell it so I picked it up just to have a backup for my mobile wifi router. Now I'm really tempted to order a XPOL-6, but not sure if it'll be worth it? Using prepaid bundles at the moment and max speed is 40 Mbs down and 10-15 up in the best spot I can find in the house. Signal strength is shown as -98 dBm (4/5 bars). Not sure if there's a way to see the RSRQ and RSRP on the ZTE routers.

You can get the Cell ID, RSRQ, RSRP, and SINR - it's just not straightforward. If you have access to a bash terminal I can share a dirty script I made back when I still had my ZTE 286C.

Sadly I don't.

I'm guessing the signal strength they are showing is the RSRP so might have to stick to just that.

Okay, pulled the trigger on an XPOL-6 antenna. That's if this one listed on Takealot is an actual XPOL-6 from Poynting. The listing is a bit limited on info.

I'm doubtful that I'll seen any better speeds, but with a R500 voucher it's worth the gamble.
