2TB Anytime data

So a quick question,

XPOL-6 and XPOL-0006

I presume these are both the same antenna just using different names ?
The reason I ask is Crusader's link for the one he wants, which states XPOL-0006, I ordered one that stated XPOL-6 from Takealot. I already got mine installed and hooked up on the weekend, but I looked at the box now and noticed it also said XPOL-0006. I paid around R1800 for mine, Crusaders link(Takealot) is a fair bit cheaper and with the R500 voucher even more so! :crying:

Anyway, this 2TB package is awesome. I'm glad I moved over to it. With the antenna, it's even more stable than before.

The one I ordered and linked to has this in the description:
"Feature:
- A-XPOL-0006
- 2x 10 meter Cables
What's in the box
Antenna and Mounting Bracket with Cable"

If you search that model number it comes up as the Poynting XPOL-6. The image is also definitely one from Poynting.

Hopefully it's a legit seller and not a fake (do you get fake Poyntings?). It also has more reviews than the R1800 version, with majority being favorable.

It should get here on Thursday so I'll see if the gamble paid off.

never seen fake ones.

That's one of the reasons I went for one. I suspect the one and only tower in town might be offering its max capability at 40 Mbs. Will have to see if true.
Also keen to know if the antenna will make a difference my area has 1 tower aswell and I get around 35mbps on my b525 always at full bars. if you see atleast 2x speed ill definitely be ordering 1.

LOL. Doubt that will happen, but I'll post updates once it arrives.

Wow. That's like my entire connection in difference and those pings I can only dream of. If my connection was like that I'd jump on the deal.
This is the absolute peak of the connection at midnight

Its rock solid stable with the antenna though using it almost 6ish years

How important would it be to mount the XPOL outside and high up? Can it be used inside as well (at least temporarily)?

Realised that, when the antenna comes, there are no convenient spots to mount the antenna outside near to where the router would be. I'll also need some type of pole mount and then a way to get cables through walls etc. Which is going to be an undertaking.

Might be easier to just hang/place antenna on windowsill or something.

Take a laddder ouside and put the wires through a window. Just to test. If it is possible at your place.

Being a directional antenna, you want it pointed at the tower, with little to no obstructions. You will likely get worse speeds than internal if not.

For me, being on a farm, the closest tower is about 2km away, over a hill. The next tower is 4km away. The tiniest of adjustments +- 10 degrees is a difference between 20mbps and 60mbps +.

Best is to mount the antenna on a external wall, or get a bracket and a pole and mount it higher. You will need to spend 30-60min outside experimenting. Once you find the signal, make small adjustments either direction to maximise your gain. It'll be worth it in the end :)

You can use Cellmapper to get a general idea of where your closest tower is.

Is there anyone in the Gansbaai area using this product? I am thinking of getting it, and have great signal where I am now, but I'll be moving to Gansbaai in a few months. I work from home, so I need a good connection with decent speed. My only options in the area where I'll be staying is Telkom, MTN or a single WISP.

Looks like I'll be doing loads of experimenting to find the sweet spot. The Telkom tower is 600m away from me. It's pretty low to the ground so no direct line of sight.

Just remember you can always mesh the house or run a gigabit cable from the perfect location. Perfect router placement is paramount for a great LTE experience.

Has anyone purchased this package yet?
Yes, we'll worth it. You just need a Huawei B618-65 or B818-20 to realluy benefit from thr speeds.
Good day everyone,
I just want to make sure if this deal (SIM only) is indeed month to month? So I can cancel any time without cancellation fees?
Thanks
Yes, worth it - no speed limit & no FUP, also if you take the SIM only, it's month to month
