I think the tower got overhauled.

What the heck is 4G ++

Telkom is a bit more devious then just "giving clients" the best possible speed. For a little while my speed was amazingly good. Then It didn't matter what hardware I have where I was or how far I was from the tower, the best speed I could get is 20Mbs down and 7Mbs up.

So I phoned and asked and then one of the operators slipped and said "sir we hard limit connections in your area" After realizing what he said he hanged up. I am not sure if I misunderstood him but it seems Telkom IS turning their speed into a product. Selling "unlimited" at 10Mbs speeds. Thing is I don't recall agreeing to this BUT it is what it is.

Is the net usable? Yes... Will I ever see 50Mbs downloads or even 100Mbs downloads ever again? No... Chances are I will not.

Get Unlimited LTE 10 Mbps for just R449PM month-to-month or for R519PM when you add a D-Link router on a 24-month contract.

In the end it doesn't matter it is what it is so enjoy the big speeds while you have access to it, chances are they will be taking it away.

On the phone I know that there is an app called netmonster that will show if you connection is in aggregation mode.

Like this...

But I've never seen more than one band show on the phones I've used...

For example this is what I see on a Samsung A12 using Vodacom.
So don't think it's using aggregation.

Unfortunately Samsung A12 is a cat4. So won't be able to aggregate.
Have tried this on other phones not only the Galaxy A12.
(Was the phone I had on me to sent the pic.

As per MediaTek specs for Helios P35

With CA support.

I've also tried on A22 and Y9 Prime will test on A52 5G. Have not tried that yet.
Non of them showed more than one band. Lets see what the Galaxy A52 5G does.

@Mxolisi Maxwell
You have a phone higher that cat4 to test with? please share findings?

Is anybody actually able to see more than one band on the Netmonster app for Andriod?

I've logged a fault with Telkom to investigate the rather brutal shaping/throttling I'm being hit with. I can run at +-100Mbps for a few minutes then get kicked down to a square 30Mbps. 250GB used this month. Signal is great.

RSRQ -7.0dB
RSRP -74dBm
RSSI >=-51dBm
SINR 19dB

...I get about the same reading. But only ever get around 30Mbps with those readings. Never bean able to hit higher that that with a SIR @ 19db.
During the day I'm lucky if I get 10-20Mbps

I've seen a 26db for SIR and that only got me about 60-70Mbps.
So must be tower issues.

At a SIR @19db on MTN I've seen it hit 80Mbps.

But your dramatic drops seems to point to some funny business.

@KingLv Will do more tests but the one I did and didn't bother taking a grab yield about 60Mbps down and 28Mbps up. Will have to find a spot with better signal. :)
