2TB Anytime data

I wish I was getting these speeds...
Anything during the day I don't even hit 20Mbps...
Some how between bout 02:00 and 04:00 early morning it hits about 120Mbps(almost)

I think it's more a congestion issue in my area.

Anyone been able to connect to the magical "5G" Telkom network yet?
I think you meant mythical, because I am in coverage with a 5G Samsung using an esim. Asked customer care about it but was given the runaround as is to be expected. Not seeing it on mobile yet, but they also haven't formally announced it yet although I do see it in the booklet being advertised on different models

Having strange connectivity issues lately... With total disconnects. Yes done all the usually even a factory reset on router.
Tried calling call center now..
Sounds like telkom does not have a 24hr technical support... basically getting a "you have contacted us outside usual operating hours. Please call during business hours"

I have been having severe latency issues and disconnects for the last week or so with the 2TB Telkom sim. I have contacted @Afrigirl via the forum and she has been of much help. Guys from Telkom phoned me the other day to run through a few settings and different band options via the B618 router but to no avail. The service seem borked in my area all of a sudden.

Been toying with the idea of getting fibre installed for a while now. So I placed my order with AH for openserve 100/50 fibre and they should be doing the install today or so.

The 2 TB deal has been rock solid since day one but time to move on.

@Afrigirl can you please confirm by what date I need to cancel my 2TB package to not be billed for another month?

She is on leave.

@AfriNatic could assist.

PS: Can't you sell/transfer the package to someone instead?
I don't have anyone or any use for it after I get fibre. I still have another Telkom LTE sim from AH that I keep as a backup that I will use when on holiday or whatever.

Either way one can still order the package from AH site.

I travel a lot and fibre doenst do it for me. Lots of times I need data, might just consider that 2TB soon.
We take it with and pack the router too, never ever an issue. Ironically telkom mobile has coverage where others dont.

So when the Roaming setting is enabled on these sims, will it still be usable when you exit a Telkom coverage area and enter a Vodacom/MTN area?

And will the handover be seamless?

No idea about roaming as Telkom mobile has been available in all the areas we use our router.

People used to say these were location locked they are not.

Is this here the same deal as discussed in this thread? There's no mention of speed on the website but it's 2TB for R699.

I thought I could make do with 150GB data per month. But I can't and need more. Looking at getting this. Anyone in/near Sandton CBD got this? What speeds are you getting?

I'll be happy with anything over 10Mbps as long as ping is stable and doesn't drop below that.

Trying to see how this would compare to the 60Mbps MTN Home Internet. Same price of R699pm but 800GB fair use policy and then 5Mbps.

Anyone successfuly got multi-sim with this? I've been told by 2 telkom stores that they do not offer multi-sim on this package.

Just bought this today. Looks like I'll never reach the 2TB cap with these speeds. Using the D-Link Cat6 router. Had to pay extra R80pm for the router. I have other routers with me but with slower max speeds (like 100Mbps instead of the 300Mbps of the D-Link. So I decided to get a better router because I though I'd be getting speeds of over 100Mbps). Looks like I shouldn't have bothered getting the new router too.

That's horrible. Change to the unrestricted APN (assuming you're not on it due to the IP, and assuming your signal is decent). Occasionally, Internet/TelkomInternet have given me similar speeds.

How do I switch to the unrestricted APN? These are the options I have. It was set to "internet" by default. Tried the two Telkom APNs and they gave similar speeds. It's ranging between 15Mbps to 22Mbps download right now (10am Saturday morning). Slows down a lot in the evenings.

Edit: Googled and saw that we change the profile name and the APN to "unrestricted". So changed it to this but speeds are similar afterwards:

DO you have network booster? External network signal outside? How far are you from the Telkom tower? Did you test Telkom using mobile data to check Speedtest in your area before considering Telkom contract? Huawei routers? Nokia router? Tp-link router? Why choose D-link router? Those are the questions before buying especially where a contract is concerned. On any network. On my mobile router Huawei I reach speed at 45 mbps 4cats router

How about I buy something and it just works well? I'm in the coverage area and got one of the routers they were selling with it.

I have used Telkom mobile a few years ago here. It works. I'm just used to the faster speeds now from Vodacom but they are expensive (at least 50Mbps). I have also tried MTN (supersonic) and Rain here as well a couple years ago. Both were so terrible that I had to return it within the first week. At least Telkom still works but it slows down a lot in the evenings so it's probably tower congestion.
