Hi

Guys

After fighting with telkom for a week and a bit ( after 2 techies came to my house) my adsl line is still down :(....

So I ordered a 384k ADSL on our 2nd analogue line which we used only for fax

Anyway 2day I get call saying that my 2nd adsl line is ready for self install so I plug the modem into the 2nd line and put the modem in bridge mode and dial out from my PC and I authenticate...but then the original modem looses sync!!!

I know that each modem needs its own analogue line which i've got, but why doesn;t it work?

Heres my setup for both modems

Virtual circuit ID: 8 VPI
Virtual circuit ID: 35 VCI

multiplexing LLC

Am I missing something?

thanks

ok nevermind, I had forgotten to verify my adsl line because I did the self install!!!

It's two isolated 384 lines. They're on seperate IP addresses, not multilinked - which means you wouldn't be able to combine them for true combined bandwidth, but you could set them up so that certain routes or apps use the one, and the rest the other. For example, gaming on the one and browsing on the other, so no lag. Alternatively you could set up a squid proxy which round-robins between the two connections so for BROWSING you'd get the impression of double the speed. Pointless with anything other than two 4mbit lines in my eyes though, because unless you're using 2x4mbit lines, you're not getting value for your money, as boramk pointed out...

I have a 4mbps line and a 384k....I only use the 384k for backup.....Being offline for 5days is not very productive!!!!

I've tried "bonding" the ADSL lines with mikrotik but it didnt work lol.....I havn't tried the round robin technique yet as whats the point with a 38k and 4mbps

thanks for the tips tho

It wont work as you need the ISP to support this. Sorry.

PS, have you finished that wiki article on the unshaped account?
