32" Plasma for R4500!!???

are they any good, I am in the market for a new telly, mine just has sound now.

Its Plasma... not so good resolution, no HDMI inputs, 10 000:1 ratio...
I say spend another 1000 and get the 32" HD ready LCD.

According to Sinotech Site the panal has HMDI, Comp, RCA, S-Video, D-SUB.

I wonder if burn-in is still a problem with plasma screens

Still a decent price, will it work with a bunny aerial? I want one for the lapa!

Looking at the resolution I think this screen will be Perfect for people who watches mostly SD channels and plays Wii/PS2/PS1/Retro and still being able to support 1080i. Hmmm I liek it vevy muuch.

Its not an HD Ready set at all....

Its EDTV ready.. but thats a standard we're skipping pretty much entirely...

Yeah I bought a Sinotec 32inch LCD about 3 weeks ago and am loving it. R5.3k from picknpay Norwood and that includes a 5 year warranty, 15000:1 contrast ration and 2 HDMI inputs, very nice set indeed...

Any dead pixels?

EDTV doesn't do 1080i

EDTV doesn't even come close to 720p.....

You must understand, that the most important part of a plasma/lcd in terms of what it can display is the native res of the panel... not what resolutions it can take as an input.

That's the same idea as I had but why does it list 1080i?

it means it will accept the 1080i signal but will downcovert it to meet panel resolution

i.e. the graphics processor handles it but the panel has a lower native res.

My girlfriend bought one of these 3 months ago - for the price, very cool. She had no TV and her budget was R4500.00 exactly. Does have HDMI - but she uses it for watching DSTV. For that purpose, it's perfect.

The one thing is image retention is a large problem :( I have bad image retention on my LG 42", but this is slightly worse. Not a huge worry for the price though.
