384K uncapped account troubles

I've been using an ODS uncapped 512 for more than two years now, and I have had no problems that wasn't resolved within a day. Thanx for the great service guys!

Also I think that Openweb's decision to fight their client's really SUCK!!! Hope everyone here see what Brilliant service we could expect from Openweb!

I have been an Openweb client for like a year and a half now, and haven't had anything but excellent service.

I know I wouldnt like getting sued....lol but maybe its their right to defend if someone does.

Anyways Openweb rocks!

No company enjoys having to disclose a lawsuit on their financial statements, even though they are sure they will win it.

This is BS. I seeded a 2G torrent, some poor guy downloaded 1G and used his cap and now he is screwed as I can't keep seeding tomorrow. 40G used in the last 9 days. And no the torrent is not illegal, just difficult to find.

Okay so what is the bottom line. Are we paying for a "capped" uncapped line ? Come on Mr Beep fight for the little guy !

No the bottom line is Openweb lied to us by selling these restricted accounts as fully uncapped.

Time to disable all images, block all ads, install a proxy, run a dns server, disable javascript and flash, hope that the bandwidth lasts to the end of the month.

Oh crap. And Ods?? Theyre still like tuning their accounts are not limited.

Where does it say on their website that its fully uncapped hey dude??

No the bottom line is Openweb lied to us by selling these restricted accounts as fully uncapped.

uh...remember 1 thing ladies and gents...

its not Openweb pulling the plug because they want to ...they have been told to do it by IS..

so the actual blame/sue attempts should be towards IS - not Openweb.

my take on this - I.S could at least have given the effected/all? resellers enough time to tell everyone what the status of events are/were to be.

now this just happened "overnite" - so that is where i feel IS<->reseller<->customer communication went down the ditch.

[OUPA]MrNutz, I couldn't agree more.

The blame here is not on OpenWeb, it's on IS for changing the rules half way through the game.

We're not having a b!tch fight between ODS and OpenWeb here. I think what we need is a clearer understanding of this whole matter and how it affects all isps.

What we ideally need is a representative from IS explaining to us directly how this course of action is warranted

The least the ISPs should do is stop calling them uncapped accounts

Hi there

It's not fair to blame IS on this one. IS notified us as part of the launch of the 384k Express Uncapped ADSL product at the beginning of May that it would have a rolling window system and that the service would be managed. At the same time, IS notified us of the same limitations on the 512k and 1024k products. Although we are a large IS reseller, I'm sure all other resellers would have received the same information at the same time.

As a result of the limitations, we decided several months ago not to sell the IS express products.

To Date: We have not received any type of notification from IS. Additionally none of our accounts have been subjected to this either. However I am sure with all the noise this forum creates, our accounts maybe subjected. However we do have a strategy to deal with this if this happens which has been communicated to our clients.

I also think that is is unfair to blame Openweb, but if they have recieved the notice in May already why did i only recieve the notification last night ? If it is not the case i apologize to Openweb. I still think we are being screwed somewhere by someone. So is there any other uncapped solutions that will allow me to play Guildwars with a reasonable ping and to do P2P ? The previous system where they blocked p2p during the day worked fine for me ;-)

We knew that there were rumours about such a system. However, we did not receive official notification until we sent out the notice yesterday.

The original document we received about this system does not contain any mention of Rolling Windows. It is also important to note we were one of the very first ISP's to sell this product.

I feel that blame is currently being thrown around like a ping pong ball, which is not constructive. If clients are unhappy with the system, please forward suggestions and feedback to [email protected] and I can arrange a meeting with Internet Solutions, and we can chat about it.

I apologise about the system, and I am sorry that i had to send out a notice yesterday, but I firmly believe in playing open cards with clients.

We received official notification, and we passed it on.

Have a pleasant afternoon, and I look forward to your emails.

Kind regards

Hey Mr Beep, thanx for the reply. As i said if we can just go back to the system where they cap p2p during the day im fine. Could you please keep us up to date on what is going to happen please.

So how is this suppose to work now?
(lets use 512kb account as example)

Day 1 to 10 has 10Gb window. If I exceed that 10Gb on day 5, my speed is halfed until day 10? Does it go back to 512Kb on day 11? What does it mean "if consumption is reduced bandwith will be restored to purchased level"?

It is truely a South African only thing to market a capped product as uncapped. But people will get away with it because most consumers just whine about it and keep on paying the prices regardless because there is no alternative.
